Brain Reboot: Full Moon in Gemini

Sometimes when the random access memory (RAM) of the computer gets a bit overwhelmed and many processes are running at once, it’s good to just do a reset. This sets up the boot sequence and loads only the programs required for, or programmed for setup. It helps to reduce the load on the RAM as it closes programs that aren’t needed to run your computer. It’s like a small way to “clean up.”

As the full moon 🌕 is coming in Gemini on Sunday, I’m buzzing with metaphors about the brain, busyness, scattering and resolving scatter, and contemplating the mixed energies of the fire signs (Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius) Mars in Leo; Chiron and N. Node of the moon is in Aries, AND the air signs: Gemini Moon and Jupiter, Aquarius in Venus and Pluto and S. Node of the moon in Libra.

Inspirations can get traction if there’s enough focus, but the energy can be scattered and frenetic.

There’s so much opportunity here to consolidate beliefs with the Sagittarian overlay. Mercury has been in retrograde since November, but is stationing direct in time for the Full Moon in Gemini (its ruler). Here’s one of the best infographics I’ve found from cafeastrology.com for a quick overview and summary of the retrograde cycle this period.

Mercury Retrograde November 25 to December 15, 2024

As Mercury is set to go direct on this Gemini Full moon the energy of Mercury, the opportunity is enhanced. Knowing that your beliefs can be flexible, changeable (Gemini is a mutable sign) and also bring wellness into the mind in order to accomplish tasks and even to feel inner peace. Mental flexibility is a helpful skill to employ at any time, but especially now.

What is being spotlighted is your power of choice in thought. This is a special opportunity for you to train the mind in a way that allies with our beliefs and “higher power/order/will.” Sagittarius always has this transcendent quality beyond the local mind— an often used keyword is “big picture” to describe Sagittarian perspectives. Jupiter (Sagittarius ruled) in Gemini (This Full Moon’s sign) is in cahoots with the Moon here enhance that bigness of the big picture (Jupiter is literally conjoining the Moon!) and how it fits into the everyday, mundane mind, habits and daily patterns. How does this bigness fit in the day to day? A rhetorical question.

Alchemizing aspects of this full moon chart show a refreshed Mercury to station direct in trine/ harmony aspect to the retrograding Mars. How we use our authority (Leo) over our energy and consideration for organizing that output of inner strength and source. That same refreshed Mercury is making a productive/sextile aspect to Venus in Aquarius which is helping us to invest more in our Humanity and consider what that would look like if we re-envision humanity . How would you like to be a contribution to the whole? How do you receive the value of being uniquely human and interface with that nature/nurture?

The Venusian example is deepened by the placement of Pluto in Aquarius where the essence of community and living with one another as humans is receiving urgency and intensity. How this relates to us personally can take on new ways of relating to our values around humanity and expecting some revolutions in our own psyches as well as the collective. What form (Venus) these revolutions take can be based on the “size” of the container. Even a small revolution in our mentality or our family or community can affect the greater whole.

Areas to develop through challenges include that the Venus/Pluto pairing conjunction in Aquarius is also opposing the retrograding Mars. So what that means is that the energies have to be behind the revolution in order to actually move beyond the threshold of idea into action. There must be some commitment or revelation leading to commitment in order to promote the changes that can be possible in developing and implementing what we are creating through inspiration. In other words, we need more than sparks. We need to build up the fire of potential and momentum in a small and controlled way.

Speaking of control and its slippery field right now around Saturn 🪐 in Pisces squaring the full Moon in Gemini. Firstly Saturn isn’t perfectly at home in Pisces unless it’s in a blissed, “out to lunch” kind of dreamy, missed opportunity space. So the threat of challenge here is missing opportunities to develop a peaceful spirituality/ belief system that can coexist in harmony in a world with other ideas and values side-by-side. Pisces is often the artistic, ethereal, and “flights of fancy” sign that can become quite composed and elegant with the influence of Saturn to reign in some of that lush magic available from the sign ruling the unconscious, transcendent, and replete (oceanic altogether mesh). W

Worlds of differences can either collide or abide together, in other words. These conflicts of meaning or interaction in the form of beliefs can be utilized as opportunities for corralling good fortune as well as bridling a rampant and frenetic mind.

To repeat this pattern in the full moon chart is Neptune in Pisces (its domicile) squaring the Full Moon in Gemini. These aspects are bits of sneak previews showing us how we might manage the Neptune/Saturn conjunction in Aries next year. So in some respects we are seeing the sneak preview but also finishing up (Full moon) some old Saturn/Neptune lessons so we can have that full pattern refresh in 2025 with these archetypal themes. A good balance of Saturn and Neptune could help shape and define the new era to come with Aries signs as the starting point of the tropical astrological year.

We are always experiencing seasons upon seasons as if overlayed like Russian nesting dolls. 🪆 The outer expressions do affect and relate to the interior. The dolls metaphor is like slices of life, worlds, and realities we are experiencing as various fields of depth emanating out from our local experience and mental filters influenced by our pasts and surroundings. These can also be beliefs made into forms.

Changes in beliefs as related to form can be revealed later but what is being called for now is to consider what is most urgently in need of transformation and re-patterning/recognizing.

This Gemini Full Moon 🌕 might culminate into a proper reboot of your nervous system—whether it be from hyper overload of misused RAM or a reconfiguration of your algorithms in the “start up program” processes.

I recommend a good float tank experience as a sensory re-establish and recalibration. It could be a way to establish more sensory clearing and bring more familiarity to a sense of spaciousness.

For you writers, it will be very interesting to see how your favorite projects are going right now and what turning points you are at. Please do comment in the field below and tell us!

For artists, you might be more interested in how abstractions can communicate the language of transformation and be exploring and explorers of the use of your form expression. How can you influence and restore values for humanity through your art?

If we don’t build in cleaning/sorting and organizing/consolidating into our daily lives, we run the risk of missing opportunities around nurturing an examined life. Belief and meaning are cultivated, and do not appear independently by design. Experience is driving the car. The tools and directions are at the ready. Look at the map with a clear and empty mind, for best results!
