Poetry challenge #1

I stretch my leg from left to right

Make sure each set of toes are in sight

I reach to the right. I reach to the left.

Past each shin, beyond its crest

I reach my hands out,

loosen grip, within without

Bring my hair down;

Nose to my knees,

falling gradually,

straightening my crown

Bowing down to the roots of trees

Next I try to occupy the space of a split

still out of reach, I admit

Getting closer to the floor

Trialing each maneuver with my core

Breathing through each pore…

This is my first poetry day 1, for 30 poems in 30 days: one poem per day. I used the prompt “out of reach.” Using prompts to write anything is new to me. I think I tried once with a short story. So I am literally stretching myself. So how perfect for this to be my first poem! I hope to make it back tomorrow, and the day after that, and after that….

Happy writing!

P.S. Happy Mercury Retrograde! 🌟⭐️🌟
