Be a work in progress

Uranus stations direct this evening at 9:33pm EST.

Revealing while Unwinding the Mind

The stunningly maverick and unpredictable ‘genius’ planet Uranus has been traveling in its detriment in Taurus for the last 7ish years. Having had its “feet” firmly planted in Taurus since May 15, 2018, this April, 26, 2026, Uranus will be landed firmly in the air sign of Gemini. This is a better placement for Uranian energies. Aquarius is ruled by this planet, its modern ruler (after all, Uranus was discovered in 1781, so the planet is comparatively modern in astrological terms).

Uranus-ruled and Aquarian-themed things are guided by innovation, sudden insights, out-of-the-box processes. Uranus/Aquarius is the natural ruler of the 11th house representative of the hope and dreams, communities and collectives, in a nativity chart. (So many charts, so little time! So much more to reveal.)

Uranus is the ruler of my natal chart, as I have Aquarius and my South Node on my Ascendant in Aquarius. Ketu (S. Node) near my ascendant. indastro.com says this,

Ketu in First House

Ketu in first house gives you a very attractive personality, makes you very popular in your social circles & gives you a mysterious aura. A positive Ketu in the 1st house leads you on a path of truthfulness and trust. Ketu is this position can also form Takshak Kalsarpa Yoga, which may lead you on a spiritual journey that will cleanse your inner self.”

Um, yeah…

Soon I get to have my nodal return! Yay!!! Can’t wait. I’m maturing like a fine wine. 🍷 if only I knew more about that stuff…

I practice a maximum multi-style astrology that includes a touch of Vedic, Western Tropical, Archetypal, Evolutionary, Intuitive, and more…

Apparently though, I’m not as “unconventional” as I look. Or maybe I look more normal but am unconventional.

Regardless, I figured I’d include my picture here from when my hair/curls were playing nice (right before bed when I had no where to go but to face some sleep). I’d say with the Leo Sun, my hair is most representative of my astrology. I also have a unique and prominent nose. 👃

I guess I stand out in ways I never really wanted to, but always wanted to stand out in ways I’m never fully seen (that’s the Scorpio I will touch on later) Haha. 😆 Let’s just say I have an untamed Lion-y 🔥 streak mixed with a zig-zag… airy-mind and I am full of ooey-gooey Cancer ♋️ planets all on the side (3 personal planets including my moon!)

What makes it all the more fun is Uranus was in Scorpio when I was born. Since Uranus is my natal chart’s ruler, it’s very dominated by everything Scorpionic. Yes..🙌 I was not given the Shamanic name “Sees Through Water” for nothing.

Normally I’d like to be hidden, but I thought I’d celebrate Uranus’s turn. After all, Pluto is in Aquarius and Pluto rules Scorpio — we’ve got extra rapport right now, and I’m a little more bold than usual. Also, I’m gonna thank Neptune in Aries ♈️ for that. Neptune is strong for my blog. It was born in March of 2011, with Sun in Pisces and Neptune about to move into the 14 year swim through Pisces ♓️.

I’ve got a very lovely Sun trine Neptune aspect in my natal chart.

See how all the signs kinda describe us? Because they do. We all contain the wheel. We are multitudes!

If you aren’t into astrology, it’s probably because it’s “hype-y.” I’ve never liked that part about astrology, but since the actual study of astrology found me before the age of 10–I always knew its depth and capacity. You could say that Uranus rules astrology. It’s one mode that some astrologers have argued. Mercury also has a strong role in the field of astrology.

Anyways, (back to my hair) I’ve updated my hair. 😂

Despite that I’ve been blogging for almost 15 years (celebrating in March for my blogiversary!), I’ve had very few pictures of myself. I wanted to lead with my written word and ignore the rest. It’s just visuals…

I’m not into the “selfie” thing, or at least I resisted it for a good long while before I changed my feelings about my face and just decided: it’s a face. It’s mine. Then plastered away… right here. Welcome to my face.

Now….

What to do with this blog. I hope to update it soon. I hope to publish my second poetry book, but it looks like when it’s said and done, it will probably be (at least) a 10 year gap between the two books.

I’m really wanting to get into a local art group.

I’ll share more about what I do in life on another blog in some future. This post was enough for now. I gotta get a brief blog break in.

February is a busy and intense month for astrology. You’ll see. We are all..

In progress…

and,

Under construction…

Hey, if you ever want me to lead you through your astrology (facilitate some new awareness and kindle some inspiration), we can have a zoom chat, and I’d be happy to consult with you. Just send me a message in the contact form, and we can arrange it.

Happy blogging! Happy lifing!

  1. Well, that is a veritable smorgasbord of the unconventional…!

Your hair certainly has a freedom about it. What is that about your nose? It was not so long back you posted something about stealing your readers’ noses… Well, perhaps I’ll half-inch (Cockney Rhyming Slang, in case the expression confuses Californians) yours, if you don’t want it… 😉

More seriously, you are you, and beautiful in your own way. Be comfortable in your own skin (and hair, and nose…!).

Right. I am no astrologer, but it strikes me that what you describe about Uranus and your natal chart, generally, is what I (actually quite kindly and positively) describe as a streak of creative insanity. Nothing wrong with an unconventional mind. And if there is a tension with a more conservative streak (if I interpret you correctly), I dare say you will find your balance. And have a good laugh doing so.

You have projects enough, it seems – if you can discipline yourself to get to them. Is that the downside of Uranus?

I’ve never feared being seen as “different” (my wife despairs, as I sit daydreaming, sucking on my pipe – no, I do not smoke; I stuff a dry peppermint teabag in the bowl, so get a minty taste without ruining my teeth). She read my first book of poems and now thinks I need a psychiatrist… 🤣

Anyhow, that is all intended as a second helping from my smorgasbord of oddity.

    Have fun.

    1. Thank you, Simon! I feel your heart and appreciation for the reverence of what makes us all different…. Oh yes, you remembered the “I got your nose” playfulness bit of one of my previous posts. Yes, I will share my nose. Haha…

Your wife has got to be proud of your poetry, its depth is alluring. But, she’s your wife, so she will despair a bit, too. haha. So interesting about your peppermint tea piping. Thank you for your smorgasbord of oddities 🙂

I feel more comfortable and beautiful just ‘being.’ It’s a journey, whew! We are all of us, works in progress, and I think that ‘in and of itself’ is the ultimate beauty and comfort we can give ourselves: the permission to transform. Love and hugs! Ka

      1. Just come to the end of a busy week. Tomorrow is the start of one of my alternating 4 day weekends (part time working pattern…!)

I honestly do not know what Mrs A thinks of my poetry. She read my first book, which is all haiku or senryu, of which I post very little here. She is a gardener and writes her poetry with flowers. Words are not so much her thing, and I believe she found it varied from hard going to incomprehensible.

Not that it matters. I’m no more a gardener than she is a wordsmith.

In the end, just being is all any of us will achieve, so you have found your path to beauty. I wonder if the “complete us” contemplates the “us” locked in time, and smiles, both with a touch of joy and sadness…

Anyhow, enough of that. A hug back at you. In fact, let’s be Welsh about it and make it a “cwtch”. 🫂

          1. Today’s Valentine’s Day present (as specifically requested) illustrates the point. I went out and bought her two sacks of compost and two new plant pots.

Yep – bags of mud and bowls for them. I’m sure she eats the stuff given how much of it she gets through…

  2. I love the photo of beautiful you! And I like the drawing in progress and theme of this post. When I read, “I’m really wanting to get into a local art group,” I thought, yeah, me too, but I have not taken steps any significant steps in that direction, so thanks for the nudge for when the time is right. 🙂

    1. Nudges feel good, don’t they? I love a good nudge over a ‘push’ any day. I feel a lot of pushing in this world, though. Maybe that’s also why I’m just happy to be “in progress” as a transformational state for as long it takes… I’m in it for the long haul; and not looking for cheap thrills, so to speak. Art is such a gift for our souls. When we are able to be in the process of *that* which in part is also who we are: Art. That’s why my first book was titled, “Art for Art.” There’s no need to go beyond it… just to BE it, is enough.

Have a most wonderful day, JoAnna. Thank you for your visit and kindness.

      1. Well said, Ka. to be “in progress” as a transformational state for as long it takes… ” It’s a pleasure to visit. Peace and blessings to you and your family.

  3. Look at you, Leo/Scorpio/Uranus Beauty😍!! I keep hearing how February’s astro-forecast is a big one and am absolutely ready for some movement 🙂 though I fully recognize I might regret that notion at some point… I’ve felt stagnant for a few years now though, I blame Saturn in my sign, and any movement sounds like a relief. Can’t wait to hear more about what you’re up to in life!

    1. Hi Kristenann,

Thanks so much for your visit! Yes, I know what you mean in terms of what has felt like stagnation. Some of us are chomping at the bit (pun intended for that Fire Horse year coming up).

I hear you on the Pisces/Saturn weight you’ve been carrying. You are gonna expect a lot more shifts. Especially with the upcoming Mercury retro in Pisces. Been thinking on that and maybe percolating a blog post, if I have or can find the time.

My position has been yearning for ‘part’ movement in the form of *development* but also part reluctance. I’m gonna be feeling the lift a bit more (probably) after Uranus goes into Gemini for the stay. It will be a mixed bag, but it will be a freeing energy vibe, overall.

Basically, my life is basically my private acupuncture and herbalism practice, parenting, and being busy. I hope to build more structure around things into the future–for now, this is enough (and maybe even more than enough).I do some astrology consulting (like all my life informally and sometimes formally) but I didn’t build a lot of structure around it yet recently–and so it needs more tending to–as do many things, like my fruit trees 🙂

  4. I agree Ka we are multitudes! And there is so much to discover about our astrological charts and our authentic self. Beautiful hair and energy and wild rides ahead! Keep turning the wheel on your divine journey 🛞 👏👏👏🧡🧡🧡🌿🌿

    1. Astrology is a beautiful, artful expression. I enjoy it when it serves us to free ourselves and open our perspectives wider– looking into various charts like deep gazing at mandala. Thank you for your kind comments and appreciation. I am so glad that we are riding in the wind together. I so appreciate you, Karen!!

      1. Went to check in on you , dear sibling sweet ♥️ .. yes, let’s have some tea !
Thank you for that lovely 🥰 compliment!!
You are the eternally beautiful light around here. You bring a sparkle to my eyes 🦋😘

  5. A radiant post, Ka. Weaving it all through down‑to‑earth details like hair, noses, and selfies—it makes the cosmic feel wonderfully human. It’s encouraging to remember that our art and our lives are all in motion together, not something to be “fixed” once and for all. Cheer to also letting us see more of your face, too! Carry on with your wonderful journey. 🌟

    1. Thanks, Randall.

As much as I adore the stars, and have so much reverence for the awe-striking nature of nature,… There’s this nourishing, nurturing down-to-earthedness that just speaks volumes to me. I want my feet in the mud, so to speak. We are so human and also quite cosmic. It’s that great mystery that holds our minds and hearts in utter delight over all the possibilities in the connections we can make (forge), catch glimpses of, etc… Yes, we have so much permission, I think: to be transformed. That is our birth-death cycle (and beyond it), which is, I think, deeper than change and arbitrariness in that. We do more than merely change form!! We develop. (a photographer can ‘especially’ appreciate that!).

We are wanting of more kindness, compassion, love and connection that our humanness is the bridge for into THIS world. Thank you for being here. 🙂 Lovely to “see” you through your words–and on your blog.
