Agita Full Moon in Gemini

This full moon has us in a weird way. Just take a look at the chart above. You’ve got Mars and the Moon forming a conjunction that is less than an orb apart. This is a *very* close conjunction. Mars the planet of fire is heating up the moon in all sorts of ways. Those ways could be Gemini–neighbors, short distance-travel, language, siblings, local community, tools, and mobility or even transportation issues. Mars is in Retrograde–so the planet is in its “inverted position.” This is has zero ‘objective’ meaning in astronomy, but in astrology it has subjective meaning (I argue here that subjective meaning can be shared). The meaning historically is that the planets energies could be blocked externally–with retrograde planets. This could be that the energies and challenges are mostly inward and emotional; there’s extra aggressiveness internally, or sense of urgency that cannot be quelled easily. So, practice your deep breathing!

Look over at Jupiter and Neptune. They are both in an approx 7 degree orb of conjunction (for these transpersonal planets –those that are further away from our personal planets, in astrology), this conjunction has significance–mixing those energies together. A couple of days ago I posted about the sea. These planets have the same ancient (Jupiter) and modern ruler (Neptune) in Pisces. The energies have to do with the flighty depths of the sea–dealing with themes of escape or surrender, emergence into the ineffable and indistinguishable–dissolved, if you will. Jupiter and Neptune planetary themes can also deal with miracles, changes in fortune, and spiritual emergence. The goal is to locate and prevent addiction to illusions and lost causes. However, these planets are in a T-square with the Mars/Moon combination in Gemini and the Sun in Sagittarius.

Mercury is the ruler of Gemini. (which is important because this is a FULL MOON in GEMINI) Mercury is at 1degree 51 min of Capricorn, READ as Capricorn 2. The Sabian Symbol is “Three Stained Glass Windows, One Damaged by Bombardment.” Here is an interesting break down of that on a YouTube channel.

If you have been reading my blog in the last week *and* paying attention. Reflect back to my post red hair. There is the stained-glass. I didn’t plan this, plan on posting these old paintings of mine during this time when the themes are completely in-tune with the astrology. However, here it is. The stained-glass is evident in my work of art. Listen to this link above for the Sabian Symbol’s elucidation. I hope you find all this as interesting as I do. Consciousness–“awarding significance to items of beauty… we find our belonging.” That quote taken from the youtube video about the Sabian Symbol.

I’ve often struggled to find my belonging–to share my true self [and be seen!]. I look back at my old paintings now, and I see tremendous beauty, and I hope that takes me into the inspiration of producing more of them. I “gave up” too may times in my life. I will not give up any more. You will see me again and again. I will not go away. 🙂

This Full Moon connects directly back (by trine) to my natal Mars and Pluto conjunction. I think that this moon is the message for me to keep delving deeply into my own themes and not look for other people to make the connections that I need to make. I am making them. I’m building my voice in order to share them (Gemini).

Questions to think about:

When can we be with art when war is at hand?

How can be protect the art, our energy, and our resources and our values in a way where we can join with community and feel a sense of belonging? What I find beautiful you may not find beautiful. At this point I need to make whatever art comes and is begging to be released…

These are things to think about. I wish you a safe full moon in Gemini. If you are interested in working with me in terms of astrological consultation, I’d be happy to do so. I have been offering my services for years. Please click the link on the contact section of my blog. I am happy to help you.

The internet is down

We are managing through the heat wave but the internet is down. My cellular service is providing this little bit of connection. I have really, truly missed WordPress in the last several months while I was less present and more in my “local” life and goings ons… The community we’ve created is so beautiful. I love how we are all living our own lives, working on our own art, writing, hobbies, freedom and voice. Thank you for being here! 😃

There are so many of you who I miss, who have not been writing. You are never forgotten.

Neruda Ode to Clothes & the environment

Ode to the Clothes

Every morning you wait,
clothes, over a chair,
to fill yourself with
my vanity, my love,
my hope, my body.
Barely
risen from sleep,
I relinquish the water,
enter your sleeves,
my legs look for
the hollows of your legs,
and so embraced
by your indefatigable faithfulness
I rise, to tread the grass,
enter poetry,
consider through the windows,
the things,
the men, the women,
the deeds and the fights
go on forming me,
go on making me face things
working my hands,
opening my eyes,
using my mouth,
and so,
clothes,
I too go forming you,
extending your elbows,
snapping your threads,
and so your life expands
in the image of my life.
In the wind
you billow and snap
as if you were my soul,
at bad times
you cling
to my bones,
vacant, for the night,
darkness, sleep
populate with their phantoms
your wings and mine.
I wonder
if one day
a bullet
from the enemy
will leave you stained with my blood
and then
you will die with me
or one day
not quite
so dramatic
but simple,
you will fall ill,
clothes,
with me,
grow old
with me, with my body
and joined
we will enter
the earth.
Because of this
each day
I greet you
with reverence and then
you embrace me and I forget you,
because we are one
and we will go on
facing the wind, in the night,
the streets or the fight,
a single body,
one day, one day, some day, still.

– Pablo Neruda

Poems that take the mundanity and animate it, supply magic to our every day. Pablo Neruda could do this; he had that particular talent. When I read about clothes as he writes about them in his poem above, I think about a time when clothing was made better, when items were sewn to last. Objects and tools used to have more value over the longer term. I long for those days, when we had such great care for our possessions, not in a purely material sense, but in such a way where there was longevity in the relationship–which to me, is a little bit different from attachment.

To me, this appreciation for these material items in our lives goes along with my background and appreciation for animism, how I consider that all of life is considered ‘alive.’ The official definition for animism is, “the belief in a supernatural power that organizes and animates the material universe.” To me, however, the power is more magical, and need not be supernatural. Again recently I was reminiscing of the story of the Velveteen Rabbit, the rabbit who was ‘made real’ by love.

To me, animism as a philosophy is more harmonious and congruent with nature. It is in sync with material durability, in communion with time. In our expendable economies today, we have a “use once and throw away” culture. While I enjoyed seeing all the Halloween decorations this year (more than usual), I couldn’t help but think of the world’s trash problem, and how desperately we need to change our ways in society and in our economies. As an anthropologist, I would say that cultural change is necessitated first. I get excited when we learn about new bacterias or enzymes that can break-down plastic and resolve the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but we are still far from having the intellectual wealth and intelligence of our planet focused on solving these problems. Many people don’t know, for example, that it rains plastic.

My post is an appeal and a wish to “put the mental and emotional energy” for the planet on solving these problems. We need to have solutions for protecting our Earth, and we need to support our scientists. Yes, each person can make a difference by using re-usable items, and reducing their foot-print; however, I think we have to highlight using our voices, and sharing our hearts so that more people are inspired about what can be done.

Thank you for listening!

Happy Peppering!

Leaving the hobbit hole only so briefly

when it’s springtime and the hobbit hole is so perfectly comfy,

but its super bright outside –

it might not be the time to write a poem, or gaze slowly and languishingly into your glowing glass of tea.

to celebrate your everything comfy,

or recollect whether not you are hitting your mark, and being in your daily diligent meditations,

being a good hobbit,

so you get out your broom and brush,
and put on some of that music that’s already playing in your head,

and you get to whistling,

and each step brings you closer to thick forest, as you sweep.

and maybe the critters are stirring more underneath your feet,

and maybe the clouds are articulating
and so

poetry,

can not be

avoided.

Happy Mercury Retrograde from an Aquarius Rising!

Hello Everybody 🙂

Today I am being held up by the Apple store! UPDATE: Problem solved by determination/patience, deduction, and luck!

I need to do all these things to fix my phone – and having the situation of a forced upgrade because the operating system updates are getting too large; and, I have too many pictures on my phone; and, the prong contacts are old and corroded, so my phone is not charging nor transferring files. (resolved).

Having previously worked in the cell phone industry as a “back end” systems, Credit/Order and Operations Specialist, I helped people get through the nasty, long-winded, endlessly riddled struggle of doing simple things: making a purchase. I had to do the equivalent of putting out technological fires, and making small operational miracles out of issues resulting from transitioning and non-communicating systems. My department, of course, was phased out. (good for me because I got the universe’s message, beforehand).

I still do like technology. It is, however, a love/hate relationship; and I quickly learned, not my number #1 thing I wanted to be adept at – or have to do. Somebody’s gotta do it, sometimes. (Done)

Here’s something fun I dug up: old TV shows that influenced my sometimes obvious, other-times-not-obvious, Aquarian persona. They are short clips (the first one – at 27 secs), merely for enticing, if you have the time for this kind of entertainment.

Mercury Retrograde in Pisces

Image

From February 6th to 27th of 2014, Mercury will retrograde.

Really, I like mercury retrograde. Call me weird. This is the time when things all around us could benefit from slowing down, our communications, our movements, even our thoughts. Maybe we could try walking instead of driving the car, if possible. When I slow down, the scenery that I see EVERYDAY can become richer and more detailed. This never fails. When I go slower, I notice more.

We can all benefit from being more careful—but how can we do that unless we go slower?

Let’s consider the standard astrological advice about Mercury retrograde. Don’t sign contracts. I will tell you from experience that I’m not super interested in signing contracts during this time—and, if I do, I do so with the awareness that there’s a whole lot that can change about the contract’s terms. Or, maybe I’m not getting what I thought I’d be getting out of it. Hands down, things done during Mercury Retrograde aren’t really “said and done,” ever. When Mercury is retrograde, the evidence presents itself: ours is a life “in-progress.” Actions and projects are re-workable, and they may need re-working—even when it’s not convenient.

But, what does it mean to experience Mercury retrograde in Pisces?

Well…. it’s rather boundless and non-categorizable. I just made up that word. It’s creative, too! Pisces is a paradox—two fish swimming in opposite directions, bound by a silver cord. Does that silver cord represent the karma of cause and effect? Could the fish moving in opposite directions indicate that the spiritual meaning of Pisces is to relinquish our knowledge about direction?

I think Mercury Retrograde is a fantastic time for having more questions than answers. After all, what good is a mind/body that doesn’t keep moving? We can meditate on that together, if you wish.

This reminds me of some zen koans:

“To carry yourself forward and experience myriad things is delusion. That myriad things come forth and experience themselves is awakening.” -unknown

“The place is right here and the Way leads everywhere, the limits of what can be known, cannot be known.” http://www.zendust.org/greatvow/genjo-koan

New Moon Virgo, Mercury Direct, Jupiter Retrograde

New Virgo Moon

New Moon Sabian Symbol: “A merry-go-round”

This is your invitation to step-off of your own personal Gerbil wheel. Recognition of the endless nature of the current path, we can see excuses we give ourselves for continuing in the same fashion. Seek renewal, true renewal.

I’ve noticed that this new moon had a lot of movement! I’m sure you did also. With the Sun/Moon (New Moon) conjunction in Virgo, a trine (easy aspect and zippy fast) to Jupiter in Taurus, and a trine to the retrograde Pluto in Capricorn, what we have are a number of celestial events that all reinforce the earth changes. Virgo, Taurus, and Capricorn are the earth signs, all involved in the major aspects listed above. No surprise that the East Coast was affected by an earthquake and a hurricane! Earth changes and collective consciousness changes abound.

Celestial event: Mercury retrograde ends (August 26, 2011)

Mercury started retrograde at 2 Virgo, backing up to 19 Leo (1st pass on July 15th). On August 26th Mercury stationed direct motion. Virgo themes are health, work, our pets, and the way we offer services. All are in a state of renewal and have been under review. The Sabian Symbol for Mercury Retrograde is “A large white cross upraised.” Blain Bovee, Sabian specialist, says this symbol is about setting a higher standard, and raising the bar. More is expected, requiring solid, tangible results. He also writes that, “When standards are hoisted… or foisted… a definite change in the atmosphere can be felt.” (site reference).

When we work with the earth energies, more is felt, as it is experienced on the physical plane. We can see the evidence of this without a doubt; it’s measurable and tangible. Yet what we are seeking is direction. Now the Sabian Symbol for the degree that mercury retrograded back to, Leo 19, is called, “A houseboat Party,” also what Bovee calls, “a keel-less boat.” The keel is the main structure of the ship—all the ship’s seaworthiness rests on the keel—apply this metaphor to our minds, and communications. How’s your mental keel? The keel is also defined as “the median ridge on the breastbone of birds that fly.” See, the keel is fundamental by design. The vision we communicate (Mercury) is in need of leadership and guidance, and that leadership must be built-in by design. More structural changes are ahead in your work-life and daily habits of mind (Virgo).

Clarity of direction

Mercury retrograde also helps to show us where our illusions are likely to be burst. The mercury retrograde cycle itself is good for re-viewing items, and that’s why it’s not a good time for signing contracts or starting new projects. The reason is that mercury brings its gift of clarity at the end of the retrograde cycle. During the retrograde cycle, we are in a muddier state, needing to return our attention to things already started. Mercury’s retrograde was from August 2 to August 26th, and if you tried to start something new at this time, it simply may have met with resistance or other types of inertia. Important to note is Mercury’s retrograde cycle extends beyond the visibly direction-change, meaning that when the planet turns direct, it’s going back over those astrological degrees in the sky it formerly passed before the retrograde. This records a cycle spanning back to July 15th. By September 9th, Mercury will have exited the retrograde path, Virgo 2. By then, all the mental dust ought to be settled, and the communications will be easier—even the thoughts will be more geared to forward movement with a likely re-direction of mental energies.

Celestial Event: New Moon in Virgo (August 28, 2011)

This new moon simply opens the door for the implementing the necessary changes that Mercury’s retrograde cycle helped to bring to our consciousness. The areas concerned are swiftly changing, however, regardless of whether or not consciousness has caught up with the knowledge. Let’s refer back to the Grand Trine that includes the New Moon with Jupiter, and Pluto. Pluto’s role here is about tremendous transformation. Pluto unearths (naturally it governs Scorpio), and will exhume what has been untouched for years, bringing it to the surface. What it brings up has a lot to do with Jupiter (your joy, abundance) in Taurus. Taurus is the astrological sign that represents our values and our resources. Taurus shows us the condition of our resources.

Celestial event: Jupiter Stations Retrograde (August 30, 2011)

Jupiter turns retrograde tomorrow in the sign of Taurus, on August 30th, 2011 until December 25, 2011.

When a planet retrogrades, it’s said that its energies are introverted, making the energies even more personal. That is, retrograde motion gives the consciousness the opportunity to reflect on itself. We will reflect on our excesses, where we “hold abundance” and those areas of life that bring us hope. This is also a time for considering where abundance is blocked in our being, our energy, and our personal vision about our life. As always, this information is shared with love and is my gift to you. Be blessed!

Mercury Rx opposite Saturn, square Pluto

Resistance is not likely to be helpful at this time

I am moved to write, strange how that is since Mercury is opposite Saturn at this time. This has been a strenuous aspect for many people. I can see it all around me. Saturn is in Libra (same sign as the recent full moon) and it is opposed by Mercury Retrograde (about to Station Direct Motion) conjunct Mars in Aries (drive, impatience). Therefore, we have a tremendous amount of restriction and resistance going on with communication, with technology and logistics, and within our relationships–this can even manifest very strongly in our minds and thoughts (Mercury).

Today’s a good day though, the moon is in Sagittarius, a fire sign that’s in harmonious aspect to the almost conjunct (side-by-side) placement of Uranus and Venus, meaning that we are collectively emotionally ready for some changes, at least during this moon, and if we can tap into it (depending on your natal moon placement) we can see changes and developments optimistically (Sagittarius). We can choose the adventure. Remember those “Choose your own adventure” books? Well, you don’t control the adventure, but you open yourself up to it, and then you make the decisions you can make to best of your capability. If your restless and nothing is going on, don’t forget to open up the book. Choose to start.

I’m very fortunate to be headed to Kauai this weekend for a meditative adventure. That’s right, I am going for both the silence, and the adventure. I am also trying to figure out how I will bring my technology with me so that I can continue writing this blog with the ease of my keyboard. Meanwhile, around me there are enough people with challenging situations that call upon their internal resources to keep to their commitments and ride the tide, so to speak. This is what has moved me to write this blog. None of the situations are the same, but a lot of tension is building.

Saturn in Libra is asking us to make decisions, or that we’ve made our decisions and now we have to ride out the challenges that arise by experiences that do not appear to be our own creation. Mars, Jupiter, and Mercury are all packed in Aries, opposing Saturn in Libra, squaring Pluto all equating to a “Wooahh intensity.” All the while, the Sun, a fresh resident in the sign of Taurus (Earth) is the harmonizing point: Sun sextile Neptune (look for the higher purpose, deeper meaning and let go, surrendering to what is). Sun trine Pluto (Your life energy is being transformed and revolutionized, rapidly). Sun trine N. Node of the Moon (What is being required of you now on an essential level, has much future direction, and is providing the substance, or sustenance for the future). Moon square Neptune (Face illusions about the past, see the consequences of negative thought-habits or visions that repeat almost subconsciously, do you have any say in those?…. YES).

The bottom line is “resistance is futile.” Recognize that the more you experience friction at this time, the more you are unnecessarily attempting to enforce your will. That is, allow your will to be aligned with what is needed for the greatest interest of all. You are unlikely to know what that is, so it’s best to allow as much as you can. Step aside where needed, be useful in the most apparent and obvious ways, but stop there. Stop gently.

Much Love,
KM

Mercury Retrograde Aries, March 30, 2011

Mercury Retrograde in Aries

On March 30, 2011, Mercury goes retrograde (Rx) in Aries during the planetary hour of Saturn. Mercury will retrograde at the Aries point of 24 degrees 21 minutes.  Traditional Aries associations tied with Mercury are impatience, impulsivity, and overall fast and full-force action. During a retrograde phase, the apparent view of Mercury’s motion is backward.  Mercury’s apparent motion will turn direct on April 23, 2011. During the retrograde period the process is finding new solutions to old problems. Mercury retrograde is associated with delays in communication, travel, and scheduling. It’s a period allowing for re-thinking and re-doing. Mercury retrograde does not lend itself well to making new commitments (such as signing contracts) or starting new projects. It is simply a period for re-view.

At the point and time Mercury retrogrades, it will septile (51 degrees) Venus, Chiron, and Ceres in the sign of Pisces, sexile (60 degrees) Neptune in Pisces, and trine (120 degrees) the transiting N.Node. A septile aspect suggests the numinous, being 1/7 of 360 degrees, and expressing the 7th harmonic.

What all that means is the following:

We will review our artistic talents and concepts of healing and spirituality by reconnecting with areas in our lives where we experience a deep sense of purpose. Parent/child relations involve over-attachment, separation, or letting-go issues and we might receive or be seeking divine intervention with this. On a more mundane level, we need to be watching what we say and using our heads very pointedly to push through delays and stay on task. We may have moved too fast to begin with and need re-direct our energies into the most purposeful end result.
