Lunar New Year– Aquarius NM Jan 29, 2025

Hello and welcome.

We will be entering the year of the “Wood Snake,” in the Chinese calendar. This, as with many Asian and Jewish cultural traditions (and countless others I didn’t mention) have a focus on the lunar calendar (basing the new year on that) vs. just the solar calendar/Gregorian calendar. The Chinese calendar is more-so based on the planet Jupiter. Jupiter changes signs approx every year. So, the Chinese “animal” is annual. These different astrological frameworks (cultural traditions), can enhance and help flesh out interpretations of what’s to come, be, or what feels like it’s ripe and ready to turn the corner. They are complimentary to each other, rather than contradictory. Consider it all a Zen Koan.

I’m not getting a ton of intuitive insights right now, but I will share what I’ve got. This year has the potential to be very creative and full of growth. The wood energy is all very directional and intentional–so having some solid and flexible plans (think of bamboo) will certainly help to make the best use of this energy. With the Western astrological sign of Aquarius, we are also looking at a time of pretty profound novel ideas. The air element in the Western astrology is *very* present. Just look at the astrological map down below: 4 planets in absolute or near conjunction: Sun, Moon (yes we call the moon a planet in astrology), Mercury and Pluto! Wow wee… With Mercury there, and newly minted “Pluto in Aquarius” for he long haul, the emphasis is on transformational and profound ideas, and changes! Power is being reconfigured in every single way. With the presence of Pluto, nothing will look the same again. But, I think you already knew that! Hah!

Venus and Neptune in Pisces can actually strongly enhance our intuition, and our ability to tap the spiritual for compassion, comfort, and more. Interestingly, those two planets, along with Saturn in Pisces are forming a “trine” or easy-flow aspect to Mars in Retrograde) in Cancer. The time is now to work through those emotions, clarify that road within to understand the movements of our urges and desires. We have a change to step back and get a better angle on seeing it all from different perspectives with that strong help from Aquarius!!! It’s a good time work with the desire nature in a way that tempers it, but also, while helping that desire nature to flourish in a productive way (pointing back to the “message from the Lunar New Year: growth and creativity!).

As if there wasn’t enough Aquarian influence, that Venus/Neptune conjunction is also in harmonious aspect with Uranus (sextile) and that means that whenever Mars and Uranus start moving forward again (Did you guess it would be so close to the New Moon/Lunar New Year?!– Jan 30th), innovation rules the roost! Mars won’t follow suit until Feb 24 when it goes direct in Cancer at 17 degrees. This is actually marvelous. Uranus astrologically is definitely known as the great disruptor–but also the great liberator! Humanity needs to see clearly, but can it? With the strong Piscean addendum/influence to this Lunar New Year, it seems that there could certainly be a lot of confusion. What does the muddling mean? Well, the Ego won’t tell you. And, the Ego is okay and not a bad guy, but fear is the matrix for promoting non-change, “stay the same” and not reclaiming any new freedoms. So there is a need to “wake up.” It’s not a really good catch phrase, “wake up.” A better word form would be “SEE CLEARLY NOW.” How can we see clearly if we already have so many fears and conclusions? It’s much harder to keep the mind open, to watch, and wait and see. Isn’t it? Well, this is the time to do that.

Focus on your only locus of control: your own life, behavior, patterns, thoughts, schedules, and rhythms, and that will really, really help. To back up what I’m saying, Mercury in Aquarius is forming a trine to Jupiter in Gemini. There can be some transformation in the “lightening up of the load” by truly focusing on the narrow and small. The narrow and small, and the big picture can both be part of the clarity–but none of us our omniscient, so we gotta work with just what we’ve got now. What is right there in front of you, staring right back? That doesn’t mean you can’t strive for more. It just means you have to start with the stump you are already on, right now. Right here, and right now.

Happy Lunar New Year Everyone!

Let’s make this a year to grow our own gardens of possibility. It can take on any form. And the best part is, all you need to do is make the choice, and then hold the “space for it.” Yeow! Let’s have the best time we can!

You are here! 🌎🌍🌏 Cancer Full Moon 🌕

The Full Moon in Cancer

Welp, here we are. We are at the start of the New Year with the Lunar New Year just around the corner. It will be a bit of the “Take two” and a chance to rewrite the solar year’s less “organic” start to the year. Whether you are a fan of the Sun or the Moon, it’s a bit like being a dog or a cat lover. Some are both. I would put myself in that camp. While I am allergic to cats (or was, long story not for now), I did have a dog who was golden like the sun, a retriever. We did actually have a kitten named “Brendy” who ran away. The kitten and puppy did play together, actually.

I loved them both. I was so sad when Brendy bolted. Maybe an animal got her. One day she just didn’t respond to her name being called. My heart still aches for the little girl who called to her trying so hard to make her voice like a magical lasso to reel the kitten back into the fold. We love you. I love you. I wanted my love to reach her. I tried so hard, called louder, tried different inflections.

But now, it’s 2025.

I’m a dog and cat lover for different reasons. I think cats and dogs should get along but I understand why most don’t. I’m also a sun and moon lover. Probably because my sun is in Leo (its domicile) and my moon is in Cancer (its domicile). I guess you could say “I’m at home.”

That’s what this cancer full moon is all about but with a twist. The energy is mega intense. We have Mars and Pluto acting very strongly in this Full Moon chart.

Not my most amazing photo but clearly the moon is Vivid and Full

The Sun is nearly next to Pluto and the Moon is paired with Mars. This adds some spiciness to the familiar, the comforts, and tension with Pluto. We are here to grow and stretch ourselves and in the midst of that find and define home.

Right now so many people in Los Angeles are suffering through losses, bad fumes and devastation. Over night people have lost their homes and insurances have bailed. They are without. It wrenches my heart to think that people are suffering like this.

Look for the helpers. This moon is all about the helpers and finding them and fueling them to do what they can do best: understand NEEDS.

The sign of Cancer is very explicit in pointing to and differentiating needs from wants. Mars is here, though. There can be urgency.

Settling the nervous system is always a good idea but maybe it will help to use this Moon’s wisdom to get ever more clearer about those body and emotional needs. Get clear about your physiological needs around peace and calm so you can be more clear about triggers and irritations as they arise and are bodily expressed.

My focus is to point out that Uranus, the Awakener, here is positively interacting with BOTH the Sun and Moon. This is opportunity to enlighten around what changes in consciousness can be made to make home more what it should be, more what suits your comforts and needs to settling, needs for sleep and calm. Also, Uranus is in Taurus helping to awaken the senses to be more in tune with how to distribute the energies. What colors and sounds are soothing for you? There much to explore to become more in alignment with those daily needs that Cancer full moon 🌝 needs to get cozy.

I’d love to hear from you. Share your experiences and desires here. Mars’ presence with the Full Moon is going to be giving you messages around your energy level fluctuations, motivations, and more. There is so much beauty in how we strive for the sake of our families and the love in community we extend from our family into the greater world. How can we expand the cozy bubble? Can we become closer friends with the foes experienced through our environment?

These are some thoughts to work with.

💗

Here’s a cute aside: My daughter’s calendar has the moon on it and we are talking about how the symbols on the calendar represent the Full Moon for today and how approximately a week from now it will be a “half moon” as she called it, and then approx a week after that on the 29th, a new moon. “Blank.” On the calendar it’s pictured as a dark circle. It’s so fun that she’s naturally interested and attentive to the moon as it corresponds on the calendar. She noticed it herself. Just 5 years old and her observation skills are getting ready! She’s getting the tools and soon she can apply and make note of what she discovers!

What I don’t have to tell you —astrology Edition.

There is a light

Hello! This is a post for your astrological reflections in an expanded way. For this full moon in Taurus, Jupiter is opposing Mercury, and the thoughts and communications are stirring.

What I don’t have to tell you (the title): Things are changing in pronounced and dramatic ways!

Since before the U.S. election I was thinking about all the major transits taking place in the next couple of years, and I knew that whatever the outcome, it was sure to demonstrate a pronounced reflection of these cosmic on-going changes. This is a deep overhaul.

I’ve been watching astrology for too long (just my life) to see this as a coincidence. I do remain a skeptic astrologer; it’s part of the fun. I always look for the positive and while that makes me biased (I tend to keep the beliefs that are most suitable to my integrity as a speaker coming from my inner authority and authenticity).

While I could ‘just’ write about today’s full moon, a discussion really merits the context of the changes in the next few years. The two biggest changes are Pluto is going for its full time stay in Aquarius, starting on Nov 19, 2024, to January 19, 2044; the other profound change is Neptune ingress into Aries, but I’ll get to that later.

So, as you see this full moon today is merely an “usher” to these bigger and more profound changes. The full moon in Taurus shows the moon conjoining Uranus (the ruler of Aquarius) and surprise! Uranus is associated with all the surprises and disruptions to the norm! This is also living itself out before your very eyes.

Important segue as I share a little bit of my “as I write this…”

…an unusually beautiful sunrise emerged, followed by some light rain, and a rainbow. 🌈 The pictures are included.

The rain was unexpected (and the combo with sun, so pretty, unexpected).

Last week we discovered (and this week) we had to repipe our house. The 87 year old iron pipes were in pieces, had several breaks and leaks and there was root encroachment.

There were times when they dug under the house and the smell of dirt felt lively and enriching to my nose, inside my house, the soil and subterranean influence from underground was being refreshed and turned over anew. Brand new piping was fabricated to supply our vital waterways into our house.

The piping situation was unexpected! (Uranus)

With Pluto we will find ourselves digging deep for transformation around the subjects of the future, our ideals as a collective human species, and the role of technology in how we integrate with the planet. Are we indeed, nature? I would say, yes. My Taoist influences direct me to the nature of my own existence as both mundane and transcendent. I am an animal for the most part. I am not separate from nature. I’ll be tapping into more of my feral ways in the days to come, I’m sure. Hint: Aries is gonna be big soon. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and the spring into action head-first archetype. Aries is a bit feral.

The next big profound shifts are due in 2025, then quickly followed by and leading up to 2026, where Aries will be discussed more.

Whether we liked the outcome or not of the U.S. elections, the changes are going to be profound (Pluto). We will be digging into our humanity as individuals and as a collective (Aries and Aquarius), excavating our inner and outer resources for survival and for meaning and purpose. It will be a time for grit.

Now for the sentinel change that is Neptune. (yes, I am making a metaphor of our Transpersonal planets as sentinels. They are watchers and ushers.) They lead the changes we will be taking on. How we deal with the changes, though, is up to us.

On March 30, 2025, Neptune will be crossing into Aries. This domain is the home of fire. The reason this is much a big deal is the themes are lasting. Neptune will be in Aries until March 23, 2039.

If that wasn’t enough to showcase the movements of the heavens being a bit dramatic, to say the least, then you would be not surprised to learn that Saturn will conjunct Neptune in Aries on February 20, 2026. Still, if this wasn’t enough to knock your socks off, then it’s important to know that this exact conjunction will take place at 0 degree of Aries. The beginning of all beginnings. Pluto will still be in the early degrees of Aquarius at 4 degrees and the two signs get along. They are aren’t known to be especially inviting though (we will have a nice Jupiter in Cancer transit for that lasting 1 year). The planet of structure, discipline and achievement, delays and traditions (Saturn) will be fusing with Neptune, planet of dissolution, imagination, vision, spirituality and the other worldly. Neptune is all about illusions and art/artifice and Saturn is all about “reality.” It seems like the ultimate “choose your reality, wisely” pair. Let’s go to work on those dreams or bust the illusions and delusions.

Neptune is posing for you with a wink from this full moon today because, it’s in its domicile of Pisces, meanwhile sextile to Pluto.

Pluto is also saluting 🫡 with this full moon as it “prepares” a tour of duty in Aquarius. Pluto is trine to the Uranus/Moon combo which is an agreeable energetic flow.

Mercury in Sagittarius continues to oppose Jupiter. There’s a lot of mental reflection and communication around beliefs and broadcasting on a large scale. Obviously the polls were off in the election run up. There’s much dissatisfaction with a great portion of the electorate, despite that the “people have spoken.” I think the majority are still in shock. That’s how I read this. Shock.

Fact or fiction with all the things we are processing as a collective, the astrology is clear. It’s not a perfect discreet language but the symbols and the themes are fairly consistent. How we choose to act and where we choose to act out remaining power is all about our individual abilities and capacities. Will we rise to these challenges?

As the future has a lot of Aquarius and Aries in it, the spark of life is going to be challenged but not vanquished. Your spark is not small, nor gentle and fragile, your spark is one with humanity. You are many.

How will you carry on in these days of immense change and instability? As you can see, Uranus has been transiting Taurus (the guardian of stability), and we have had so many changes ushered in to break that stability and beg us to look at our values and resources in the face of these disruptions.

The future will belong to the individual (Aries) AND the collective (Aquarius). How will we embrace new values and comforts (Taurus). This full moon in Taurus is a time for assessment but it still might be too soon for the stir-up is still really yet to begin.

I wish you all well as we navigate the questions and answers that arise. May you be healthy. May you be whole. May you survive. ✊🏼

With deepest respect for you and your journey through the cosmos on spaceship Earth! Ka 💗

Defining new rituals together

Growing together – Ka Malana

This piece, I just finished it. I see two different beings who are standing back to back with the landscapes within each of them unique and enchanting. They are complementary figures. The smaller (perhaps younger) head on the right has more of horizontal landscape inside. The one on the left (the elder) has vertical lines of energy, suggesting that the inner landscape is even more inward and downward facing/within. One could even suggest that this figure is facing the past (left) and the figure on the right is facing the future, the East—what is new on the horizon. They both share a central golden beam. It supports them. The swirls guide the eyes off of the image and into the beyond, so the movement just flows. Green provides this on-going, penetrating fertility.

As we move closer to the Full Moon in Virgo, with a very strong Piscean chart (Sun, Saturn, Mercury, Neptune) all in Pisces opposes the Full Moon in Virgo.

The 3 planets (Stellium) in Aquarius are Pluto, Mars/Venus are squaring Uranus and Jupiter in Taurus.

That’s where the chart might demonstrate some need to actively balance the energies. However upon closer inspection there are natural harmonies with the trine aspects of the Pisces Sun/Saturn to the Taurusian placed planets of Jupiter and Uranus which are also in loose trine aspect to the Virgo Moon.

There is opportunity for the values and needs to be balanced spiritually through the habits and rituals of the Virgo moon. That is, this —and arguably all Virgo Full Moons—offer more awareness of health and service as it relates to the Spiritual goals, bonded with the material goals. It is time to unify and make more ‘realized’ the material relationship we have with spirituality. It’s simply not just ethereal, elusive Piscean experiences. How we engage with the real world, the Earth signs, greatly influences what we manifest. Use your solar discipline to ground with your ideals so you are living as a demonstration of your highest values and not the ones imposed on you by the pressures of the culture and society. Make your dreams real by developing rituals and habits which demonstrate with regularity your spiritual commitment.

Finally, this North Node transit with Chiron in Aries (Ruler of 1st house of identity), gives us a bit of meditation, for the willing, on how self-identity has been both wounded/healed.

My family has been and will be adding more meditation to our daily routine as a shared activity. How will you intentionally share your dreams/Spirituality (Pisces) with your community (Aquarius), in a practiced way (Taurus) with service/dedication (Virgo)?

Full Moon in Cancer

It has been such a magical full to moon to have in the family-oriented sign of Cancer. How can we appreciate our families even more?

A reading for you: Creation

As we move towards the Full Moon in Aries coming up this September 29, depending on where you are, I asked Spirit to give me a reading for my blog readers. That reading was completed with the one card, above. Creation.

The card comes from the Chakra Wisdom Oracle, by Tori Hartman

This card is all about the artistic shaman. It leaped from the deck that I shuffled in preparation for this reading. The energy with this one is strong! This card is all about opening to magic and hitching to one’s inner muse.

The following is the meditation from the guidebook:

“Open the notebook to a clean page. Close your eyes and image She Shaman standing in the mist, holding out her hand. Follow her into the mist. As you walk she motions to sit. Ask for her guidance. Pick up your notebook and write. Simply write whatever comes. Do not censor or judge the words. They may mean nothing right now, but they will. Thank She Shaman for her visit.”

What have you always wanted to do but always stopped in your tracks? No matter what it is, you have to ask yourself: which is stronger fear or curiosity? This time is all about breaking lose of the confines of the known and starting off as a newbie–without anyone’s permission! Aries is a seed of fire that when planted and fueled with your intention, will bind to matter and create a new thread of connection, which will branch off into a number of unseen ways. The full moon is a cumulation, but my intuition has it that the energy has been growing inside you for some time; and at the full moon, it is ready to be released into a new beginning. A burst of light. Take 5 deep breaths and then make your move!

nourishing dark

Here you are fresh as can be

New Year, new schedule, maybe?

What’s in and what’s out?

What’s your intention all about?

How far have you traveled in your intuition?

Walking yourself right out of inhibition.

Opening the gate, but you have to wait–

You’re here, but your new Year

is slow to grow.

It’s gonna take some time to build a rhyme

and shine on a dime.

Get comfortable, sit right here

Park your thoughts and listen without fear,

Hold in your heart your wishes dear.

Sit in the dark and take your time,

There’s nothing to do and nothing to prime.

Nourish the dark and the dark will nourish you.

We’ve got the full moon in Cancer upon us, but I’m feeling New Moon energy. The Full Moon is at 16 Cancer 21. We just passed through a very interesting Venus and Pluto conjunction having us really work on our regeneration energy, our values, relationships, and investments. It was such a helpful aspect for considering our “intentions” for the New Year. It was “as if” the universe were asking us to deeply (Pluto) consider–haha or overhaul (Pluto) our values, relationships, resources, self-love, assets (Venus) and re-establish our priorities–well, we have had all those Capricorn planets to help with that, too!!

Develop a “rank and order” to the projects and time investments. Did you feel that? Maybe some people are even changing their love-nature in a fundamental way. What would that look like? What would bring more purpose and meaning into our relationships? Venus has now advanced into Aquarius and it won’t be long (March) when Pluto will be moving briefly into Aquarius–which is the really, really big shift. Can you feel the hints of it now?

I see this Cancer Full Moon as an opportunity to get comfortable with the idea that truly big change is not only ahead of us, but will also free us up quite a bit. I don’t think its oxymoronic for certain aspects of our heritage, nature, home and heart to become ripened during a time of so much newness and change.

Here at home we’ve been pulling the fruits off our trees and giving them away in the neighborhood, lemons and oranges in abundance. It’s a good symbol for this New Year/Full Moon. The fruits are ripe; and who do you want to share them with? Who will enter into your world who you would never even have imagined? How much can they change you? Have fun with this…

The Sound of Crickets, Hafiz, and the Moon

Lately, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting a most lovely cricket. For me, the presence of a cricket (inside my house) and right next to me on the couch, is usually a sign. Yes, this has happened to me before, but not exactly in the same way. I have no idea how he got inside, but I did coax him out. I want him to live!

The night he was singing the loudest, I was writing, and I needed the support. I was reaching within myself for my inner voice, feeling for it, digging deep, and really just trying to use words evenly. Crickets are special. This cricket may even be my ancestor.

In China, people have been known to keep crickets as pets.

This morning I awoke at 4:30am.  My body/mind/spirit wants to move deeper into my spiritual practice. I received the message that this is what I am going to be doing now. I’ve been nudged. Now it’s up to me to “go with it.” By 5:00am, I decided to go for a walk, and it was a little bit on the chilly side. Yes, I live in sunny California, so when it’s dark – I get sensitive to the cold.

I turned to head back home, and there it was: the brilliant, large, glowing moon. I felt like I could walk to it… and maybe even hug it.

Also, this morning, I opened a box of special books that were in storage (I was looking for the Secret of the Golden Flower), and I found this poem by Hafiz, that I’d like to share with you:

I Took It as a Sign

Someone sent a band to my house,

And it started playing

At five in the morning.

I took this as a sign

God wanted me to sing!

Then the moon joined in

And a few of the tenor-voiced stars,

And the earth offered its lovely belly

As a drum.

Before I knew it,

I realized

All human beings could be happy

If they just had a few music lessons

From a Sweet Old Maestro

Zodical Cancer as an Archetype

The archetype of Cancer is a nurturing energy that seeks to care for and protect the young ones by focusing on the “roots” of the living, and housing the growing spirit (seed) in a protective structure like a shell, or deep within the earth. Cancer is one of the 3 water elements in Western astrology. The other two are Scorpio and Pisces.

Water Element in Chinese Philosophy/Medicine

In traditional Chinese medicine, winter is the season for strengthening the water element. “The Kidney Qi rules in the winter, a time when living things are contracted with cold. Like a seed deep in the cold ground, Qi is dormant, waiting for the time to sprout.”

Water energy is a generative force in the lower belly or lower Dantian, the sea of Qi, also known as the “the golden stove.” About 3 finger widths below the belly button, this center of balance and gravity is one of the focal points for meditation and Qi Gong practice. It is said that our Prenatal (Yuang Jing) is housed in our lower Dantian, interacting with the Kidney energies and forming Kidney Jing.

“When the Kidney Qi is strong, a person is fearless, determined, and can endure many hardships in pursuit of their goals. Persevering by will power is characteristic of those with strong Kidney Qi. Longevity is also considered to be associated with healthy Kidney Qi, signified by large, elongated ear lobes, like those of the Buddha.”

“In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Kidney energy is also said to be responsible for healthy teeth, bones, and bone marrow. Because the ancient Chinese medical scholars considered the brain and spinal cord to be extensions of the bone marrow, the Kidney is thought to rule over the skeletal structure and function and, consequently, over intelligence, reason, perception, and memory.”

Western Astrological Correspondences

In Western Astrology, the sign of Cancer is associated with memory and the retention of water. It rules areas such as the mammary glands and the abdomen. Its complementary sign in Capricorn is associated with the structural components of life, such as bones and teeth.

During a full moon, the Sun is in the opposite sign from the Moon. Therefore, we can learn something from looking at the interaction of both archetypal signs, the signs for both the Sun and the Moon. In this case, it is the complementary (and opposite) signs of Cancer and Capricorn.  Also, looking at the Chinese traditional understanding of the water element sheds light on the existing focal point for strengthening our bodies and spirits during the season of winter.

September 19, 2013 Full Moon in Pisces: Harvest Moon

The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is Pisces 27: “A Harvest Moon”

The full moon takes place at 4:13A (PDT) and 7:13A (EDT)

The theme is about the collective and social dynamics of working together. What does that mean? Pisces/Virgo is the harmonizing axis for intuition, compassion, practicality, and being of service (not to be confused with servitude!).

Noticing at this lunation that we have some other challenging or “creativity-making” astrological aspects (cardinal cross, transiting Saturn conjunct Venus transiting the north node) let us be mindful of what we have worked for and created, envisioned, and have some gratitude for that process, and recognize our ability to make a difference. To BE a difference in the health and well-being of us all.

Virgo/Pisces

This is where we make God (with a capital ‘G’) come to earth through our own actions of service and of love. Recognizing the need for more patience in the world (be more patient), lending a hand (hold the door for someone), lending your ear, or your shoulder- without the brownie points – because no one saw you, because you love someone 🙂

With Virgo/Pisces in balance, a person just doesn’t go out looking for a cause, or looking for someone else to have a problem they can solve, a person sees that it’s the tiny little assistance that makes all the difference in the experience for most of us. It’s the connecting. You can even hold courage for someone, hold faith, and hold confidence in them. The best way of helping sometimes is to let someone do something by themselves and let them find the courage within. So compassion and service expresses in many ways.

Employed or not, physically capable or not (sick or healthy), everyone is contributing to the vision (Pisces) of humanity. That means that everyone is working!! If you don’t realize the impact you already making, then you can’t make an impact! It is our collective efforts that bring health, healing, vision, and purpose to the planet.

Look around, a lot of people are really trying their best. Both Virgo and Pisces make the difference on earth, molding and envisioning, like the mutable water and clay they represent being earth and water signs. High intuition, vision, and the culmination of things made real. It’s so necessary for us to look outside with compassion – and hold it within, too. There’s but a hair of a difference between us all…

Saturn conjunct Venus in Scorpio: Serious

This aspect makes relationships less demonstrative, and more serious. Saturn brings business wherever he goes. He’s the teacher, Chronos, father-time. Saturn restricts us so that we learn things like discipline and determination, even self-determination. Venus is money, values, relationships. Saturn can stifle or be too rigid, authoritative, or overly critical about anything he touches. Saturn can also *stabilize* and bring security to anything he touches. Saturn appears when someone’s in it for the “long-haul” or the long term picture.

A conjunction is about the energies of both Venus and Saturn being infused with one another ~as with all conjunctions, the energy acts in unison but not always on the same note, if yah know what I mean 😉 ~ Sometimes these energies don’t blend well in our lives, but when they do blend well, effort (and sometimes struggle) materializes into form or reward (Venus, money, Bravo!, positive-feelings). The last time that Venus was conjunct Saturn was at the end of November, last year, 2012, in the sign of Scorpio. The next time that Venus will be in conjunction with Saturn will be the end of November 2014 in Scorpio. After that, Saturn enters Sagittarius, in December, 2014. Saturn will not transit Scorpio again for another 28-30 years. If you’ve heard of Saturn’s return, you’ll know that a Saturn cycle is roughly that time frame. Following the Venus/Saturn cycle in Scorpio, is a Venus/Saturn cycle in Sagittarius. Since Saturn is the “slower moving” (further away from Earth) planet, it occupies the sign for a longer period of time. Therefore, its effects are longer lasting.

August 20, 2013 Full Moon in Aquarius

The Water Bearer

Enter this full moon in Aquarius, the sign of the water bearer. Aquarius is an air sign, and as such, it represents the intellect. Aquarius unlike Leo (the heart sign) represents the love of reason, an impersonal love which values objectivity. Like the other air signs, it goes well with Gemini (knowledge) and Libra (justice). Aquarius is interested in the goodness or the humanist aspect of mankind but not so much just in terms of philosophy. Instead, it’s more of an empathy of understanding.  As ‘the water bearer’, Aquarius supplies mankind with the tools of the divine, the endless supply of the ‘god substance’ within.

This full moon conjuncts the planet Neptune, which sits in the early degrees of Pisces (the sign that it rules, and where it feels quite comfortable). Back in April 2010, and then again in October 2010, Neptune transited the same degree of Aquarius. Therefore, this full moon is energized with the energy of Neptune’s transit, and this transcendent degree that is final degree of Aquarius. Everything about this Full Moon speaks culmination. In fact, the sabian symbol for Aquarius 29 is “A butterfly emerging from a chrysalis.”

Today as I was at Balboa Park in San Diego, California (where the Sabian symbols were once channeled back in the 1920s) a beautiful butterfly landed nearby and climbed up onto my hand. It sat in my palm for a little over a minute, enough time for me to get plenty of photographs with it. As I reflected on the beautiful monarch, a little inner voice said as if from the butterfly herself, “Don’t be afraid…I am aware of you, and you are aware of me…let’s have a minute together.”

What has come full term for you at this full moon?

Closest Full Moon (Most Super!) until August 2014

FULL MOON in Capricorn

(originally posted on June 24th at my keen.com blog site.)

Here I am taking a look at the chart for today. Every day has its own signature, so to speak. Pay attention to the days after a full moon and tell me if you feel a release. There’s some anxiety building up to the full moon (especially one like this), and then, things start to settle. You may have never believed it at the time, but they do. And if they haven’t settled for you yet, they will. It all depends on how and where you experience “the wave.” Here’s what’s so cool about what this full moon: it coincided with and sort of “left behind” this super amazing triangle. This super amazing SUMMER triangle. I hope you all enjoyed the Solstice on June 21.

Super Summer Triangle

If you’re feeling the richness of your emotions, well, you can thank the sun in the nutrient rich sign of Cancer. Cancer is the sign of the mother. She is our true provider and caretaker in her best light, and “she” is conjuct Jupiter. Jupiter is a planetary symbol that inflates absolutely everything it touches. It’s going to be spending some time in Cancer soon, but for now, Jupiter is in Gemini. Have you had TONS of communication lately? If not, well, maybe all that has been brainpower. One thing is most likely: you’re more aware of your nervous system in some way. So, we have Sun (Life Essence) next to Jupiter (ideology or faith, optimism). Jupiter is squaring the North Node, perhaps this abundance is not the KIND of abundance you were hoping for, nevertheless, admit to the abundance 🙂  It’s abundance. If you’ve got gobs of good stuff going on, yes, by all means… live it up! We’ve got the moon (emotions) opposite mercury (thoughts). Are we seeing how our emotions really seem to affect our thoughts? How many near scares did you have this full moon before you realized that it was just “in your head” and all turned out okay? So, we are growing! The Sun (life essence) is opposite Pluto (transformation). Pluto was just hanging out with the full moon in the sign of Capricorn.  How do you feel about the structure of things? Does the way things are structured in your life help or hinder the way things flow?

This summer triangle is likely to help you work on “having” some more fun!  Here’s why: We’ve got a triangle formed by 3 points: Sun, Saturn, and Neptune. Neptune is the ocean, our dreams. Neptune is also our illusions. So, how do we know the difference? What’s real and what is a dream? Well, work with these energies that are in your life right now. Ask yourself, what is it that you really want.  What is it that you really, really want? Then, see what comes next. Let yourself know what you really want, and then all the right questions will pop up. It’s your job (Saturn) to answer the questions that come up – those things that stand in the way of your dreams. Remember, keep it fun. Keep it in the spirit of fun. I think Jupiter wants you to do that 🙂

Full Super Moon, Lunar Eclipse May 25, 2013

(this post was converted from my blog at keen.com – it was originally published on May 25, 2013)

This full moon, super moon, (in fact ‘super’ in astronomical terms) takes place on May 25th, 2013. In astrological terms, this full moon will be in the sign of Sagittarius.  Sagittarius is the sign of wisdom. Wisdom’s counterpart is knowledge, or Gemini.

This moon illuminates the wheat from the chaff. After this moon, it will be easier to make decisions about what gets your energy and what does not. Let us be clear in our intention (Sagittarius) to sow better seeds (Gemini). Those seeds can be words or deeds, and they can also be seeds of inspiration that we plant. The full moon shows us what we have already planted, or have neglected to nourish.

The gardener watches all of this with detached observation, has some faith in his or her intention, and plants again with higher knowledge (Sagittarius) – the wisdom that comes from experience. Let’s try to do that with our thoughts, and our deeds.

Spend some time tonight and look up at the stars. Soak up the cosmos in a single, deep breath. Take a moment to embrace the silence of that deep knowing without mind or thought. The ultimate pregnancy is in swelling silence and expansion. Be an empty vessel, filled up by love itself.  Just for today, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Just step off of it completely…

Full Moon Virgo, March 19, 2011: Illumination

Are you servicing your soul (Pisces) with your pragmatism (Virgo)?

If ‘yes,’ excellent! If ‘no’… then, who do you serve?… If you don’t serve you , then who does?

I’m looking at the full moon chart for March 19, 2011, and it’s not the easiest due to the mutable grand cross configuration involving the moon’s nodes; but, before anyone gets too carried away by being flustered: the good news is that Venus and Neptune are making very harmonious contacts. Venus (love and values) is sextile Mercury (communication and thoughts), so let’s just say that communication is active (Aries) and somewhat objective (Aquarius).  However, that’s not the whole story for communication: next to the full moon is Saturn, which tends to have a reserved or restrictive quality—meaning that you may have a meaning/need/or feeling to convey but have not the words to convey it, or you may realize you need to say something, but can’t quite get the big picture (Jupiter) to fit with just words, so what to do… ?

Let it be

Here’s where Neptune, a planet making harmonious aspects to the moon’s nodes, comes in—use its better energies: surrender your issues to a higher-power for resolution. The moment you release to Spirit though, is the moment you have to make your senses very acute and await a reply. That’s right, it doesn’t mean your job is done just because you’ve surrendered your worries and issues. It means you’ve requested help, and then you listen keenly/watch very perceptively for your reply. One more thing: you have to honestly want that answer, whatever it is. Be willing to accept it.

Sun opposite moon

Now it’s tough to say all this, and get away with it, simply because there are so many factors of “affect” going on in the sky currently. Uranus is newly in Aries and very close to the transiting Sun, but not officially conjunct (or joining energies) with the sun yet (March 21st 2011). Uranus is worth mentioning because wherever he is in the sky, usually coincides with very unpredictable events—real wild-card surprises. Usually the purpose of his symbolism is to bring your awareness into a greater expression of humanity, usually in terms of “setting free” and “individuating” certain aspects of your life. So during this full moon, Uranus is on the Sun’s side.  The Moon however (in opposition to the Sun, as is perceived with a full moon) is on the same side of the tracks as Saturn. Emotions are challenged. Our life-force wants to be set free, but our sense of security wants to stay right where it is. For Virgo, this could be with health or with work.

The full moon could be in any house

As you know from my previous blog, a full moon brings forth new knowledge or illumination to the area of the chart where it occurs.  For example, if the moon became full in your 7th house (astro-terminology)—that would be the house that indicates “other,” one-to-one relationships, marriage or business partners.  Or, depending on your birth chart, the full moon could occur in your 4th house, having to do with things home-related, projects coming to culmination in the house. You see, it depends on “where” a planet is transiting with regard to your natal configuration.

Other clues about the days on or around March 19th?

We can, however, think back to December 21, 2010, when we had the Total Lunar Eclipse.  Do you remember the days before Christmas? This was the winter solstice which happened to coincide with a total eclipse of the moon at the last degree of Gemini, a point that this full moon will be squaring (in difficult angle). When there is a difficult angle, say a “square,” this can bring friction or creativity. The choice is yours. Just be aware that somewhere the flow has a kink in it. Find it and make the best of it. For example, did you begin thinking up New Year’s resolutions that it’s time now for you to refer back to?

Opportunity to grow more deeply

I’ve got more good news: Jupiter is very close to Mercury so you will be growing and learning intellectually. You’ll be more aware of the bigger picture, and the ramifications of your current beliefs. My only caution to you with this aspect is to watch that you don’t overdo something with words, or by expression of too much over-confidence. Jupiter has the ability to enlarge concepts and make them very grand.  Since Mercury will be squaring Pluto your thoughts and conversations will likely be serious and go deep beneath the surface. It all depends on your natal aspects, and how the planetary arrangements/archetypes have worked on your psychology throughout your years.

Certainty

One thing is certain: the future is not fixed, and how everything looks right now may be very different from how it looks tomorrow, or the day after. Get in touch with your deep intuition (Neptune in Pisces). Again, this is the good side of Neptune ! Which will be heading back into Pisces on April 4th, 2011, the sign it rules—home at last.  Sometimes tapping into your source is your only real safety against an unknown future.

With Love and Gratitude ~
