Astrology for April, May and beyond

Hello my lovely friends:

If you’ve been in the flow lately; you know there have been big changes with the shift of Pluto from Capricorn to Aquarius. This is a decades long transit. It takes several months for Pluto to get settled into Aquarius, so Pluto is temporarily in Aquarius at 0 degree, for now. This June, Pluto will return back to Capricorn until January 20,2024. Then be in Aquarius to September 1, 2024 before returning to Capricorn. Finally, from November 19, 2024, and after, Pluto will be settled in Aquarius until March 8, 2043.

As you can see. It’s not an “overnight” transit. In fact, no transits really are. There are some aspects that last a day or two in astrology and those are shorter lived events. Also the moon is void of course often for only part of a day. The moon changes signs approximately every 2.5 days, so those astrological influences are constantly changing. This is a lot like weather. In fact, I think astrology is basically like forecasting weather: looking at trends vs. certainties. Finally, if self-determination is your thing, I would definitely agree with you that self-determination takes priority over the influences of the cosmic weather. I do believe we are each responsible for making and co-creating our own reality. I favor the idea of co-creation, since I think we are always partnered with the universe and nature when we are crafting the trajectory of our lives.

It’s nice to take note of what is taking place from an astrological/astronomical perspective.

April & May Events

  • 19/20 Solar eclipse at 29 Aries (the unusual second “new moon” in Aries)
  • April 21 – Mercury retrograde in Taurus at 15 degrees
  • May 1 — Pluto goes retrograde at 0 Aquarius
  • May 5– Lunar eclipse at 15 degree Scorpio
  • May 14– Mercury stations direct at 6 degree Taurus
  • May 16– Jupiter ingress Taurus

As you can see the above trends are changes taking place in the fixed signs. This can be ground-breaking in getting us out of our ruts and creating avenues of movement in our lives where we weren’t able to previously budge. The fixed cross of Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio is being activated. Areas in need of renewal are around values and shared resources (Taurus and Scorpio) and self and community (Leo and Aquarius).

What themes have you noticed are activated for you right now? Have you found that some of your systems are getting changed or switched? Does the structure of your life look like it’s changing? If you saw yourself on a bridge and crossing it to the other side, what do you think you would visit on the other side? Look at these images below and comment on anything that arises. Are you alone or following someone else? Are you in a city or in a remote location?

Diegesis

Each twist and turn

in the story of life

is but a flutter of light

glinting off a butterfly’s wings.

each moment is a whisper of

soft spoken messages fleshed with meaning

during our telling of it

who and what, where and which way when

is not as important as how we felt

when we quieted the inner din

and stared dark into the silence

feeling the holy fragility of the moments

that are too few to give us any true picture

of where we are going…

Family love and life

So grateful for another day on planet earth with my loved ones. I’m grateful for all the genuine connections I have in my life with people who are not physically close, too, but are so so close to my heart. My friendships that are enduring are so valued in my life. I’m grateful for my loving family. I’m also grateful for my blogging connections and this month’s challenge helps me to keep centered on what matters most while being able to weave in and out as I need to and am able!

14/30

As people weave in and out of our lives, its so important to remember our inner lives. This new moon I embarked on a new journey with my Medicine Woman studies. It’s an incredible New Moon in Scorpio sextile to the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction. I received an initiation today and conducted a special ceremony; my path has begun on a deeper level, in private. Many of us walk between the two worlds, and as we anchor ourselves in the unseen world, we enrich the world we do for the consciousness of the planet. Today we also celebrate along with this New Moon, in many regions of the world, such as Northern India, Diwali, the festival of lights. It’s the celebration of good over evil. May we realize the goodness in our hearts, and come together on this planet. That is my hope each and every day.

Compassion meditation to ease anxiety

As a part of my personal practice, it brings me a lot of joy to be able to extend these meditation sessions to you as a gift. Meditation has long been a resource in my life, and it is so freely available to us all. The benefits that come from meditation are so life-enriching, that I want it to be accessible to all. Please give yourself this time today.

May you experience peace and wellbeing today and every day.

Today the Sun is in Scorpio and the Moon is in Virgo, nourish the health in your body and mind, and in your soul.

Textures of life lived:

It’s important for me to remember to “do” one day at a time. I have tools that help me look into the future but that is, at best, not always to be used. This is important. I’ve grown accustomed to learning how to do many different things and regularly shift my focus. But as my energy has gone out a lot recently, I’m starting to draw it back again, bring it back into focus for the winter. I enjoyed my short break to wander a little bit. It is reflected from my changing activities in my school schedule, and the working schedule that I make for myself. There’s a lot that I am balancing in a shifting world. Every day the needs of my family are different. The clocks have changed, too. The time to “drawn in” as such, like a deep inward breath has come again. Adjustments are being made to our circadian rhythms here.

Meanwhile, the reality of the upcoming holidays stimulate our appetites and communities with activities and industriousness.

A lizard visited with me yesterday, this was for several minutes. I’m aware that I am to persevere by our visit. Having recently scrubbed out my refrigerator, I’m aware of needing to clean this window sill as well.

A few weeks ago, while getting some of our regular “Vitamin N” outdoors, I captured a glimpse of a unique tree with a plaque that explains it, “Sausage Tree.”

Special moment of gratitude: This day and every day I am so grateful for my wonderful husband and partner! 💖

To love is to grieve

that pit in your stomach
that moment you wake to
each new morning crusty,
to greet that dull emptiness –
memories of laughter, still lingering
but when you try to reach the energy of
it, and saturate yourself within it, it’s
gone silent.

the breath of your friend
on the other side of the phone
fully dissipated

your confidant, has been removed
the first person you think of
the first one with whom
you share anything that
excited you, no matter how silly, bizarre,
trivial,

the shape of your breakfast,
that small squirrel who winked at you,
and the corner of your room where
that one spirit of your ancestor
resides, and from where they speak
to you at certain hours of the night.

all those human updates,
removed from the planet

By the action of an
accident

Those you love, grieve
for you, because your love
And your tattoos and
the time we spent together is on
your skin,
which has been incinerated

You have now become a Cherry tree,

and you have become one,
with all
who grieve for you.

your best friend and all your friends
continue to collect and congregate in
your name, just to squeeze out more marrow
from the life you lived and shared,

and we will take and treasure those pieces
with each other, and do it over and over
again, as the sun sets over a vision of
your better outcome,

on the other side of our same shore,

in the twilight of your smile.

Please don’t make me explain this poem. I think it doesn’t need anything extra. Mourning is a shared activity, sometimes we carry some of the heaviness of our friends’and our own as well, maybe, they can energetically bear the burden of the love that was lost, because of this poem.

Participating and playing vs. Observing quietly

DSCN0217.jpg

DSCN0180.jpgDSCN0197.jpgDSCN0250.jpgDSCN0170.jpgDSCN0272.jpg

My title is a spin on my natal nodes and the current transiting nodes (at this point I’m looking forward to the Cancer N./Capricorn S. nodal transit).

The images above show the blur of engagement and activity, while the reflective, observant images are clear and crisp.

Having my 2nd nodal return in the  set of approx. 18 year cycles, it reminds me – again – of the “ping pong” and “intense” nature of the opposition (180Degrees) aspect generally, and then how the one in my natal chart Sun – Leo/ opposite Ascendant – Aquarius, gets emphasized, with nodes like this. Certainly this form/body cannot be everywhere and doing everything – so observing one thing at a time, has been the respite, saving-grace! Staying out of drama, hype, comparison… I’ve completely been scaling back my social media to its virtual non-existence. Not saying that it is permanent, but I am not eager to return to social media anytime soon. Self/Other was never a dichotomy for me, but boundaries are a necessity.

But this blog is a unique form of social media – it’s reflective and meaningful. It’s second only to reading books – which is what I try to do in my non-existent “free time.” I’ve only barely completed a few books, while I have consumed multiple tv show series, no doubt – just anything to be a little bit easier. I enjoy reading a book, far more, since social media.

These photographs that I’ve taken and shown here are several months old now, and as I continue to work on my photography skills, appreciating my subjects, more recently I’ve not had much energy to return to my blog to feature these marvelous faces, nor to embrace my writing publicly and with others, nor to discuss the ‘here and now.’ Part of that reason, is that I, have been on vacation after a *very busy and eventful trimester working with others and on myself* and maybe, I will return, from that vacation/ spiritual “retreat” – ‘one day’ in blog world, but I’ll start to return to the day-to-day offline world, first, and I have.

I feel deeply connected, so I’m not worried. So many pujas later…and time spent in the woods of the great green earth…

A lot has been simmering for me, and while it may seem like I am not experiencing a dynamic time here via Fiestaestrellas.com – if you are aware of some of the current transits – Western astrological version…

  • Mercury station direct and all the airplane news &
  • New Moon on April 15th at  26 Aries
  • Saturn SR on April 17th
  • Chiron ingress Aries
  • Sun ingress Taurus, form, matter
  • Pluto SR on April 22
  • Venus ingress Gemini
  • Mercury Square Saturn
  • Mars/Pluto Conjunction
  • Full Moon on April 29 at 10 Scorpio

…. you’d know that I’m undergoing quite a bit of transformation, and that process looks different all the time. It shifts quickly to and fro, and while the ‘3D’ appears to be fluctuating, the eternal experiencing is ever-present, calm, enjoying the show, and embracing all the moments. I remain ‘undecided’ about most things and am mostly enjoying that ride, despite certain times of definite and specific discomfort, which fortunately leaves quickly. I am cultivating what Napolean Hill has coined, “a definite and specific purpose.”

There’s a lot of energy in the collective field.

I’ll be taking, potentially more time away from blogging, and dedicating myself more to my day-to-day offline activities, but I do hope to resurface here and there from time to time with greater purpose, and with more clarity at some sort of ‘one-day’ stabilizing point. I eagerly await Uranus’s move into Taurus, and as I pull into my center… I enjoy uncovering more from my core. In my Ascendant chart, Uranus will be linking to my 3rd house of neighbors, siblings, and closer networking – opening up the mind – which it has begun to do! With my ascendant ruler in Scorpio and all my Cancer planets – you might imagine: I like my privacy, and my transformational cave.

Thank you to all who have been a part of this blog, and who continue to be the celebrating shining lights of sparkle and joy in this world, bringing passion and compassion into your every-day, and in the blog world where I can see you. I look forward to providing another update or two before I take another dive into the deep…

Aloha, Ka

For those who have actually read this blog post in its entirety, I am so grateful that YOU are here. Most of my blog posts are very short and don’t require a lot of time and attention, but that may change in the future. In this post, I am rambling, but right now… it’s enough to pass.

For those who experience loss, may something be gained.

Maui inspired print

I wasn’t planning on sharing this painting, or at least yet. I made it as a fun print, with kid’s washable paint. It’s on wood. I like the blank spots, for now.  Not worrying about being a “serious” painter – I like that every time I sit down to make some art, or I make art on the fly – it’s for a different reason, season, need, purpose. Sometimes I study an object, sometimes I just want to have fun. That’s what this was. Also, I’m not pigeon-holing it into “something” or needing to be defined. I’m letting it live on its own.

That said, I am sad to hear today about a colleague’s artwork being stolen. I’m angry. I’d like to keep the details private but I wanted to offer up my “make it easier” coloring in honor of this loss and ask that the artwork be returned to the owner it was gifted to and so that the work can continue to heal and make its offerings on the wall where it was originally set.

Scorpio as a sign in general tends to guard that 8th house of losses and gains. We are in the midst of the full moon with the nodes changing into Leo/N.Node and Aquarius/S.Node. I am a big believer that we don’t lose anything, only the physical form. I can only imagine how much of a blow it was to the creator of the artwork – with the art’s intention to heal and provide.  This is the human condition, no one is free from loss. May this person, and all involved, experience a full restoration.

Solar Eclipse in Scorpio, November 3, 2013: Aglow in the Dark

camel eclipse boston globe photography

In astrology a solar eclipse is considered stronger than a new moon. It is still a new moon though, and has similar astrological meaning in the sense that it is about planting a seed for something new, for something yet to come. Historically, a solar eclipse brought fear, especially in areas where it is can be seen, for temporarily there is an obscuring of one body of light in the presence of another. Not just any light, but that of the sun: the most necessary and important light of all. Eclipses generally corresponded to big events and turning points in people’s lives – not unlike a rite of passage. Also, astrologically speaking, eclipses have a wider range of impact than a new or full moon, and can be felt up to a week or more before and after the eclipse date. I’ve heard astrologers quote longer time periods as well.

This solar eclipse is taking place in the sign of Scorpio. The sign that has everything to do with espionage and subterfuge, maybe this is why we have a lot of news right now internationally regarding the spying that the U.S. has been doing.

The Sabian Symbol for Scorpio 12 is, “an official embassy ball.” According to Nicholas Devore’s, Encyclopedia of Astrology this is a degree of business. Well, perhaps this is a ball by sheer number, not so much celebratory. It definitely points to a lot of movement among international dignitaries, not too cheery.

What strikes me about this solar eclipse chart is the series of trines (120 degrees) which show a lot of zippy energy into the Scorpio Eclipse (Sun/Moon). This sort of aggrandizes, or jacks up what’s happening here in the sign of the scorpion. Also, Jupiter, the planet of abundance is also a symbol for pomp and regalia –he will be retrograding on November 7th, introverting any assumed air of entitlement.

The Neptune-involved T-square aspect at the full moon in Taurus on November 17, communicates back to this Solar eclipse that there’s something removed from reality about the Neptune in Pisces trine sun/moon conjunction in Scorpio. There’s a bit of shock about it all, or confusion about “why’s this happening?” Some ideal is being unmet, or unseen. There’s some muddy water surrounding it, illusions (Neptune). More will be revealed at the Full Moon, or at least, what’s going on will become clearer then. Neptune undraws lines. But, lines will still be drawn.

Saturn is conjunct the Sun during this solar eclipse on the 3rd. Themes of father, fatherhood, authority, the establishment, and constraints on time come up. There is also awareness of discipline needed to reach goals and navigate intensity surrounding the eclipse. This is Saturn speaking to those well-trained. Otherwise, it’s like black paint’s been smeared all over your new blueprints – push-back onto old habits and structures. Perhaps the new blueprints aren’t ready until they are fully tested. Like, how well did you have them memorized? Can you redo them?

Yod

Another notable aspect of the solar eclipse chart is Uranus’s yod Aspect. A yod is also referred to as the “finger of god,” and it sometimes gets distinction with astrologers as an “aspect of fate.” Essentially what it is is an arrow pointing to one planet that marks it as the point of adjustment between two other planets, which form quincunxes (150 degrees) to it. The two planets are sextile (60 degrees) to each other. So, taking all 3 points together, it looks like a long, skinny piece of pie. The tip of the pie, the part that would touch the pie’s center, that’s where the yod points to –the adjustment point.

In this case, in the solar eclipse chart, you have Uranus in Aries at the adjustment point. Mars in Virgo (point 1) and the Sun/Moon eclipse (point 2) both quincunx Uranus in Aries (point 3). Generally speaking, let’s look at the U.S. healthcare plan. The website for the healthcare program (Mars in Virgo) needs a lot of work if it’s going to revolutionize (Uranus) how individuals get insurance coverage (Scorpio deals with the insurance stuff, and loans, and taxes). In fact, the key to making this whole new healthcare system work is the internet/technology (Uranus) facilitating its start (Aries). The yod (the finger of god) points to Uranus.

The “Finger of God” aspect sounds pretty dramatic when taken by itself, but there are bigger or longer patterns in effect. Uranus is involved in the ‘Uranus square Pluto’ transit lasting until 2015, which is part of the larger Uranus/Pluto cycle which started with the conjunction back in 1966.

Uranus/Pluto

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto. Pluto continues to be in and out of exact square aspect with Uranus up until 2015, with another exact square on November 1, 2013, 3:30 PDT (Rx Uranus in Aries @ 9’26’’ and Pluto Direct at 9’26’’ Capricorn). The history of this Uranus/Pluto cycle began with the conjunction of the planets on January 7, 1966. That’s when Uranus and Pluto were side by side, in the sign of Virgo. We are talking about a 138 year Uranus/Pluto cycle here, ending at the beginning of the next one, in 2104 in the sign of Taurus. What we are currently experiencing is a square. A square is a tough aspect, it creates friction, hardship, and requires some creativity, some testing. We’re dealing with the square part of the cycle for about 4 years, from 2012-2015. Personally, I prefer a square to the quincunx. The quincunx looks like nothing is happening but the energy is all frustrated (which can run amok). With the square, at least something is happening, there are sparks, and it’s creative.

A solar eclipse in the sign that is ruled by Pluto is gonna bring on this pattern with greater potency, especially since an exact square of Uranus/Pluto is within 2 days of the Scorpio Eclipse. This should make for a very interesting and particularly ghoulish Halloween. Have some fun with it. Dress up like your alter ego or something, bring some levity and some treats, everyone will appreciate that. Be careful with the caramel in the candied apple – that could ruin some teeth!

Breakthrough

Scorpio is all about the urge to merge. But it’s also the kind of energy that wants to destroy itself, to get so entirely consumed with the intensity of the object of desire that it transforms its own very essence. This is Scorpio’s gift: transformation. This is really about the phoenix rising from the ashes, something so innate, where purging is the process that brings growth; it’s the dark and sometimes ugly stuff that really, really creates the fuel for the happy, pretty things in life.

I see a lot of breakthroughs in this solar eclipse not the kind of outward progress than can be seen in the news, but the kind of under-the-layers (Scorpio) unseen breakthroughs.
There’s a small theme that starts now with Mars in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces, looking ahead at the full moon in Taurus on November 17, I see that Mars in Virgo will get some kind of props for a job well done. For those who assert (Mars) themselves in assisting others (Virgo) to help get things in order, to develop practical methods for actualizing Neptune (ideals, utopia). In Virgo, being “right” is relinquished for being truly helpful. Utilize reasoning rightfully now.

I said this before with Saturn’s presence and since the planet is such a major player (the ruler of Pluto occupied Capricorn right now, and conjunct solar eclipse), it’s still very valid. Maintain the focus, keep the discipline, and use the quickly flowing, uninterrupted trine energy to release some pressure valves in your life. Find protected areas to blow off some steam, and channel any mobilized energy into financial and joint pursuits. Consider your insurance policies carefully, and order your affairs. Basically, Scorpio helps us look deeply –I mean to look really deeply into just about, well, Anything…even into things apparently ‘not there.’

Scorpio Full Moon

Full Moon in Scorpio, May 17, 2011 (As occurring on Kauai, Hawaii @ 1:09am, may be the 18th elsewhere)

Look back. Don’t go back.

The moon shines at night, it is reflecting the conscious light of the sun; and Moon, she takes her shape from the positions of the Earth and Sun as they inform her own position. The moon, then, represents the unconscious, fertile, and form-making aspect of our lives. It is at Scorpio, then, that we begin to prune and tend to our gardens created by what we planted at the Taurus new moon. We start to see our intentions taking shape. Scorpio, the opposite sign of Taurus, is about shared resources, the earth’s resources, debts, obligations, and other people’s money. Financial questions are on the forefront at this time and so with them is our relationship to other people, material value, and to the earth herself as a resource.

Dig for Gold

Scorpio is the sign of the scorpion. She can sting with her tail. Her sting penetrates—which is the key function of the sign of Scorpio: penetration. Scorpio saturates and is saturated by everything that she is in relationship with. What she brings to the table is the up-surging of subterranean drives, and the emotional richness of connection and intimacy. She, also, expresses herself through transactions, of sexuality or money—even energy—from the deepest upwelling of underlying passion. She is out of control, or, always in control. She’s past the Libran balance of here *and* there simultaneously. Scorpio is all-in. That is why Scorpio charges the air with magnetic power. Swift and smart, deep and hidden, yet guileless when she goes for the jugular, that is Scorpio. If she is in her most pristine form, she will cleanse you of everything-transform your destructive nature into absolute creative power, for she provides the emotional richness of connection, deep, reverent union. Instinctual and animalistic is her power, once released, it is explosive. Form (Taurus) is Re-formed (Scorpio).

Squaring Neptune

With this full moon, we have a T-square aspect (two, 90 degree angles) with the planet Neptune. That is, the Sun is opposite the Moon, and both bodies are squaring Neptune in Pisces. Here we must use our energy and soul essence (Sun) for spiritual purposes (Neptune), surrendering all our conscious drive for wholeness *and* our unconscious, emotional body for transcendence.  Both male and female must re-configure. We must give away or purge (Scorpio) our illusions (Neptune) about spirituality. Surrender (Neptune) our constructions and any ‘it must be this way’ thought-forms (Saturn) to intimately deepen with the power (Scorpio) of the unformed—that which springs up from unlimited origins (Neptune).

Do not let issues from the past bubble up and tell you how the future will be. The past is only one channel that leads into the future, giving ourselves the power of interpretation and using psychological mastery (Scorpio), we can re-frame the past into one which allows for the future of your choice.  Know that the source that makes the future is far more limitless and undetermined than our minds would like us to think with our thoughts about what the past was.

With the Moon and Sun squaring Neptune there is a tendency to get confused. Be forewarned but do not forlorn because you are aware of this transit, you have come to the crossroads of another decision to cut through (Scorpio) the illusion, confusion, deception, and penetrate the fog of confusion (Neptune).

 The Bottom Line

Renew your commitment to cutting out the dross within your own psyche, forge a new path with your will-to-faith that confusion and limitation is temporary *and* transformative. You have forged a new path for yourself when you surrender to the process of your own spirit, emerging out of old form into new form.
