Mars Conjunct Jupiter in Cancer

Mars is energetic, provides the drive for action, the passion, and the impulse to act. Jupiter is about great expansion, philosophy, long distances, and optimism. Both planets are currently transiting together in the sky. There’s a few different ways this can play out. For example, the focused energy of mars can become diffused, and you end up with some laziness. Jupiter and Mars in Cancer like to reflect on the past.

Mars is debilitated in Cancer – meaning it’s not the best sign for Mars to act like Mars. Perhaps there’s a lot of sentimentality and emotionalism surrounding the past, the family, or the mother. Maybe energies are frustrated that are tied up with home projects. Even if the energies aren’t frustrated, there’s likely to be a lot of activity around the home and family, and in people’s private lives. Capricorn is the sign for public life, structure, and maintaining and keeping appearances. Cancer is Capricorn’s opposite, with the private life as its domain.

The presence of Jupiter usually brings optimism, good luck, and a deeper yearning to connect with the ancients, timeless wisdom. Jupiter’s essence is abundance itself.

Mars conjunct Jupiter is an aspect that is part of a much larger configuration which culminates by the end of the month into the ‘Star of David’ on July 29th.

New Moon in Cancer: July 8, 2013

(originally published on my blog at keen.com, has since been edited)

A new moon indicates a new and yet unseen manifestation. Cancer is also the sign of home, family, gardening, cooking, and chemistry. Emotions provide the spice, the medicine, and the path to balancing – when ALL is taken into view from the perspective of cosmos.

Emotions are rich and enriched at this time! Take some time out to nurture yourself, get in touch with your emotions. You probably inwardly deserve this attention on how you feel. Cancer is the sign of the crab. She is very, very strong (and hides) because she is very, very sensitive. Let her show you the energies of flow, water, and unconditional nurturance. Here, in the astrological archetype of cancer, it is Mother Nature who provides the medicine you need.

Emotions can flow, get pent up, hide, or even manifest as physical pain

If emotions can flow like hot, thick lava…drawn up to the surface, then we are bound to destroy things in our path, but what comes up is molten and new, spewed from the earth for the sake of her own ground and expansion – to bring about her equilibrium. Emotions can also be as clear as fresh water, sparkling and revitalizing – healing to all those around. If you don’t know what kind of emotions you have because they aren’t on the surface, spend some time with this. Get in touch with the source.

The Cancer archetype is unique to the twelve zodiac signs, but it is a cardinal sign which means it shares this modality called ‘cardinal’ (directional, seasonal) with 3 other signs: Capricorn, Aries, and Libra.  These cardinal signs exist in each of all of our charts, in some astrological house or area of our lives.

The sign of Cancer – at her best – shares with us unconditional love and acceptance. This she expresses in constructive harmony with the other cardinal signs. These cardinal signs indicate the direction of activity in the universe, seasonal markers of developmental change.

EVERYTHING in the universe seeks equilibrium (Libra) for its individual urges (Aries) that exist within the overarching structure or system (Capricorn). Aries and Libra are opposites: me (Aries) and you (Libra), private life (cancer) and public life (Capricorn). All the components must find constructive harmony.

When the archetype of Cancer is in its most constructive expression, its experience is emotional richness, and unconditional love energy just flows. In it’s less constructive expression, Cancer is easily hurt, wounded, and *in need* of nurturing.

Ultimately, in the sign of Cancer, if we are to be in the experience of unconditional love, we must understand that all in the universe has this same need – to feel loved, supported, and nurtured. If it’s difficult to remember that, take time out and practice nurturing yourself during this precious time of planting new intentions. It’ll always be worth it.

Closest Full Moon (Most Super!) until August 2014

FULL MOON in Capricorn

(originally posted on June 24th at my keen.com blog site.)

Here I am taking a look at the chart for today. Every day has its own signature, so to speak. Pay attention to the days after a full moon and tell me if you feel a release. There’s some anxiety building up to the full moon (especially one like this), and then, things start to settle. You may have never believed it at the time, but they do. And if they haven’t settled for you yet, they will. It all depends on how and where you experience “the wave.” Here’s what’s so cool about what this full moon: it coincided with and sort of “left behind” this super amazing triangle. This super amazing SUMMER triangle. I hope you all enjoyed the Solstice on June 21.

Super Summer Triangle

If you’re feeling the richness of your emotions, well, you can thank the sun in the nutrient rich sign of Cancer. Cancer is the sign of the mother. She is our true provider and caretaker in her best light, and “she” is conjuct Jupiter. Jupiter is a planetary symbol that inflates absolutely everything it touches. It’s going to be spending some time in Cancer soon, but for now, Jupiter is in Gemini. Have you had TONS of communication lately? If not, well, maybe all that has been brainpower. One thing is most likely: you’re more aware of your nervous system in some way. So, we have Sun (Life Essence) next to Jupiter (ideology or faith, optimism). Jupiter is squaring the North Node, perhaps this abundance is not the KIND of abundance you were hoping for, nevertheless, admit to the abundance 🙂  It’s abundance. If you’ve got gobs of good stuff going on, yes, by all means… live it up! We’ve got the moon (emotions) opposite mercury (thoughts). Are we seeing how our emotions really seem to affect our thoughts? How many near scares did you have this full moon before you realized that it was just “in your head” and all turned out okay? So, we are growing! The Sun (life essence) is opposite Pluto (transformation). Pluto was just hanging out with the full moon in the sign of Capricorn.  How do you feel about the structure of things? Does the way things are structured in your life help or hinder the way things flow?

This summer triangle is likely to help you work on “having” some more fun!  Here’s why: We’ve got a triangle formed by 3 points: Sun, Saturn, and Neptune. Neptune is the ocean, our dreams. Neptune is also our illusions. So, how do we know the difference? What’s real and what is a dream? Well, work with these energies that are in your life right now. Ask yourself, what is it that you really want.  What is it that you really, really want? Then, see what comes next. Let yourself know what you really want, and then all the right questions will pop up. It’s your job (Saturn) to answer the questions that come up – those things that stand in the way of your dreams. Remember, keep it fun. Keep it in the spirit of fun. I think Jupiter wants you to do that 🙂

New Moon in Gemini, June 8, 2013

Every new moon is an opportunity to start something new, or sow a “seed” and see if it germinates. At this time it is perfectly natural to become more silent and inwardly reflective. This new moon in Gemini (the sign of communication, the mind, and the twins) points to the inherent duality of nature. How the mind perceives is in twos, ‘good and bad’, ‘right and wrong,’ ‘left and right,’ ‘yes and no’… etc.  Every new moon in Gemini offers us a new imprint on our mental consciousness, giving a chance to edit and even re-write how we perceive and communicate what we perceive. It is entire possible to make shifts in our thinking or communication at this time.

The sabian symbol for this lunation is “Chinese men talking Chinese.”

Perhaps at this new moon, taken with all the “new” energy of the recent eclipse series, we find ourselves reaching out and finding again those who are “like-minded,” and become more desirous to speak with those who understand our personal language (and sometimes this is a cultural history) and/or making us more comfortable sharing conversations with people who are “on the same page” mentally.

The new moon is trine the asteroid Juno (also known as the spouse or Hera in astrology). This is an easy aspect, allowing for the smooth flow of energies from the new moon (conjunct sun) to Juno in Aquarius (inventiveness, uniqueness, unpredictability, freedom-loving). What is being supported now is some level of non-attachment and/or “getting with” what’s true in the present moment about our relationships. Perhaps there is a need to establish boundaries by summoning your personal authority in a creative and previously unattempted way.

Expansive Energy in Gemini: What to DO? May 29, 2013

(this blog post was originally posted on May 29, 2013 at Keen.com; both sites are currently undergoing a conversion process)

As the sun nearly steps out of Gemini, there’s still a ton of energy packed in the sign of Gemini. We’ve got Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury, all within a 6 degree orb of conjunction. Holy moly! We are talking, visiting with siblings (or working through sibling stuff), having busy minds, busy in cars, in traffic, and visiting with neighbors more than ever before. Perhaps you are building your social network, or finding yourself more social than usual – at least, the urge exists, and it doesn’t want to be ignored. Whether from inside you or noticeably outside you, the urge is there.

The Gemini nature is about information, news, short-distance travel, your neighbors, and your siblings. It also rules your mind and nervous system. How the mind/spirit/body deals with the energy has a lot to do with the natal chart (birth chart). All these points need to be viewed in terms of their context, and astrology is no different than life itself. I can give you the ‘gist’ of astrology here… much like explaining how the waves are moving – if they are choppy or smooth, what types of things you want to set your sail to, but I can’t see your natal chart, so I can’t tell you what other ‘personal themes’ are linked up with these current planetary transits.

Setting your Sail: Transiting North Node in Scorpio

Let’s look deeper at what flows beneath the surface themes and have a look at the North Node of the moon (this position shows us where societal energies tend to flow – what is our “stretch goal”, if you will.) The north node of the moon is currently in the sign of Scorpio and it is conjunct (right next to) the planet Saturn.

Now Saturn often gets bad ratings, generally, but Saturn is truly a “teacher” planet. Both Saturn and Jupiter are teaching planets; in fact, but Saturn does things the more practical way. That is, Saturn will get you into gear, by watching you scramble to “hold your own.” You can call this the “school of hard knocks,” but everyone really DOES experience it differently. For example, Saturn can give you the energy you need to be self-disciplined – a certain sticktoitiveness. Saturn will MAKE SURE that you are successful at your endeavors. Saturn will even enroll you in the “program” when you didn’t know you were “going to school.”  That said, let’s look a bit more at the sign of Scorpio and how the North Node of the Moon functions inside this nifty sign.

Scorpio is a pretty sexy sign. Honest. I mean, it’s all intense and purgative and ready to expose itself. Scorpio also has to do with merging, forming a union, and that’s right: joining forces. The sign Scorpio will show itself in psychological studies, questions about motivation, power and, well, status.

Scorpio and Saturn kind of, well, they “get along.” The reason is that Saturn is ruled by Capricorn, another dogged sign, another archetype chock full of ambition and self-making. There’s a single-mindedness to both signs which make them natural companions; that is, if they share the same goal J

North Node in Scorpio: Get with the Cosmic Plan

Look for opportunities to work with others, consolidate your business ventures, build trust relationships, and/or discover the need to purge.

And, ask yourself the following question: “How can I USE this energy that’s involved in socializing, collecting information, and thinking (Gemini) in ways that will help me build a better, more sound, and more solid (Saturn) network (Gemini) of alliances (Scorpio) to help bring about the consciousness evolution (North Node) that is SO needed on this planet?”

Full Super Moon, Lunar Eclipse May 25, 2013

(this post was converted from my blog at keen.com – it was originally published on May 25, 2013)

This full moon, super moon, (in fact ‘super’ in astronomical terms) takes place on May 25th, 2013. In astrological terms, this full moon will be in the sign of Sagittarius.  Sagittarius is the sign of wisdom. Wisdom’s counterpart is knowledge, or Gemini.

This moon illuminates the wheat from the chaff. After this moon, it will be easier to make decisions about what gets your energy and what does not. Let us be clear in our intention (Sagittarius) to sow better seeds (Gemini). Those seeds can be words or deeds, and they can also be seeds of inspiration that we plant. The full moon shows us what we have already planted, or have neglected to nourish.

The gardener watches all of this with detached observation, has some faith in his or her intention, and plants again with higher knowledge (Sagittarius) – the wisdom that comes from experience. Let’s try to do that with our thoughts, and our deeds.

Spend some time tonight and look up at the stars. Soak up the cosmos in a single, deep breath. Take a moment to embrace the silence of that deep knowing without mind or thought. The ultimate pregnancy is in swelling silence and expansion. Be an empty vessel, filled up by love itself.  Just for today, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Just step off of it completely…

Uranus Square Pluto to help us Re-Pattern: (2013-2015)

Carpe Diem

There has never been a better time to change the deeply-ingrained patterns that run our lives. The universe is doing this for us anyways, as we are currently being called to deeper and deeper levels of awareness. This experience need not always be full of pain and resistance. In fact, we may even find unique ways to re-pattern, bringing ease into our lives where we may never have imagined possible.

If you can feel it building:  May 21, 2013 is our next exact aspect.   It’s building.

See if you notice any existing patterns in your life around these dates involved prior to today and see if you help yourself balance the energies within yourself and note themes in your life around these dates.

Uranus in Aries

Uranus doesn’t want to be like everyone else, he is the archetypal maverick. His wants FREEDOM to be himself, to experiment, to be irregular, to be unpredictable, and to be ‘in the moment.’ This is why Uranus’s presence is known to bring flashes of insight and highlights of brilliance or enlightenment.

Stop.  Take a moment. What is authentic here? With the Uranian theme, being an individual counts towards the good of the collective. One does not act for the good of the collective (because one may not know what that good is), one acts for oneself (which coincidentally is good for the collective). One acts from inspiration (Aries).

Oh yes, and of course, Uranus is the ruler of the sign Aquarius, the gift of friendship, equality, objectivity, and detachment. The PURPOSE for bringing together the like-minded is for the common good. If you are feeling the push to make some real progress on things deeply inspiring to you, the universe is on your side.

In Aries, Uranus is even more of a maverick and appears ‘self-ish,’ or that is, without ‘self-consciousness.’ Really, re-read that previous sentence. It can get esoteric but it’s pretty simple: be yourself – it’s good for everyone 🙂

Pluto in Capricorn

Pluto, once deemed a “planet,” shows us a deep capacity for archetypal transformation. If you’ve followed any of Carl Jung’s writing on the collective consciousness, you may have stumbled across ‘the shadow.’ Now according to Carl Jung this shadow doesn’t necessarily mean the icky dark things (bad mojo) in all respects, it’s pretty comprehensive. The shadow represents all that is unseen from the viewpoint of the individual. Therefore, the shadow holds both the good and bad.  Whew!  Ain’t that a relief!  What skeletons in your closet are maybe really pretty, friendly, loving skeletons after all – happy, dancing skeletons?

One method for seeing into the shadow, capturing a glimpse of it, is in looking at our attitudes towards others. Is he or she always irritating you in a certain way?  Well, now you’ve just looked into the mirror. This is why the ‘Shadow’ tends to get a lot of people ‘running away’ from it. Who wants to see that?  On the other hand, for every bad, there’s likely to be at least, if not more (even if you don’t believe me) one good there. Look for it.  Maybe you are jealous of someone. Maybe you are just seeing a side of yourself that you wish to claim and embody in your own life. What can you empower yourself to see in yourself that you projected onto others?

Stepping out of the shadow and looking at the ‘Uranus Square Pluto’ aspect shows us that energies are intensely transformative right now, make the best of it. That which you resist persists. My often best repeated words of advice, and I have no idea who said it first, “take nothing personally.”    Many blessings 🙂

Pisces Full Moon: September 12, 2011

Spiritual Cleanse

This full moon is a spiritual wash. It reflects the light of the Virgo Sun (the astrological sign for purity). At this time we have an inner call for atonement, which is the urge to merge with the infinite in all Creation, and the Universe. We might find ourselves more energetically tired at this time, or even more aware of tiredness that may have been accumulating over time. Take this time to nurture yourself and those you love in the softness of the Piscean Moon. Sit in nature and absorb the air in your environment, really embrace all your surroundings. If you find it difficult to focus at these times, go easy on yourself, be gentle. This is a time for gentleness and for kindness. A brief moment in time where you have a chance to step outside of the daily details and see the bigger picture as something that supports your vision for today. For some, this may be time to edit (Virgo) that vision (Pisces), but be sure that this time is definitely a time for awareness and not being overly critical.

If you can be by a lake or a river now, any body of water–especially, the ocean, you can commune with what you need most now. Namaste. Be blessed in every way.

New Moon Virgo, Mercury Direct, Jupiter Retrograde

New Virgo Moon

New Moon Sabian Symbol: “A merry-go-round”

This is your invitation to step-off of your own personal Gerbil wheel. Recognition of the endless nature of the current path, we can see excuses we give ourselves for continuing in the same fashion. Seek renewal, true renewal.

I’ve noticed that this new moon had a lot of movement! I’m sure you did also. With the Sun/Moon (New Moon) conjunction in Virgo, a trine (easy aspect and zippy fast) to Jupiter in Taurus, and a trine to the retrograde Pluto in Capricorn, what we have are a number of celestial events that all reinforce the earth changes. Virgo, Taurus, and Capricorn are the earth signs, all involved in the major aspects listed above. No surprise that the East Coast was affected by an earthquake and a hurricane! Earth changes and collective consciousness changes abound.

Celestial event: Mercury retrograde ends (August 26, 2011)

Mercury started retrograde at 2 Virgo, backing up to 19 Leo (1st pass on July 15th). On August 26th Mercury stationed direct motion. Virgo themes are health, work, our pets, and the way we offer services. All are in a state of renewal and have been under review. The Sabian Symbol for Mercury Retrograde is “A large white cross upraised.” Blain Bovee, Sabian specialist, says this symbol is about setting a higher standard, and raising the bar. More is expected, requiring solid, tangible results. He also writes that, “When standards are hoisted… or foisted… a definite change in the atmosphere can be felt.” (site reference).

When we work with the earth energies, more is felt, as it is experienced on the physical plane. We can see the evidence of this without a doubt; it’s measurable and tangible. Yet what we are seeking is direction. Now the Sabian Symbol for the degree that mercury retrograded back to, Leo 19, is called, “A houseboat Party,” also what Bovee calls, “a keel-less boat.” The keel is the main structure of the ship—all the ship’s seaworthiness rests on the keel—apply this metaphor to our minds, and communications. How’s your mental keel? The keel is also defined as “the median ridge on the breastbone of birds that fly.” See, the keel is fundamental by design. The vision we communicate (Mercury) is in need of leadership and guidance, and that leadership must be built-in by design. More structural changes are ahead in your work-life and daily habits of mind (Virgo).

Clarity of direction

Mercury retrograde also helps to show us where our illusions are likely to be burst. The mercury retrograde cycle itself is good for re-viewing items, and that’s why it’s not a good time for signing contracts or starting new projects. The reason is that mercury brings its gift of clarity at the end of the retrograde cycle. During the retrograde cycle, we are in a muddier state, needing to return our attention to things already started. Mercury’s retrograde was from August 2 to August 26th, and if you tried to start something new at this time, it simply may have met with resistance or other types of inertia. Important to note is Mercury’s retrograde cycle extends beyond the visibly direction-change, meaning that when the planet turns direct, it’s going back over those astrological degrees in the sky it formerly passed before the retrograde. This records a cycle spanning back to July 15th. By September 9th, Mercury will have exited the retrograde path, Virgo 2. By then, all the mental dust ought to be settled, and the communications will be easier—even the thoughts will be more geared to forward movement with a likely re-direction of mental energies.

Celestial Event: New Moon in Virgo (August 28, 2011)

This new moon simply opens the door for the implementing the necessary changes that Mercury’s retrograde cycle helped to bring to our consciousness. The areas concerned are swiftly changing, however, regardless of whether or not consciousness has caught up with the knowledge. Let’s refer back to the Grand Trine that includes the New Moon with Jupiter, and Pluto. Pluto’s role here is about tremendous transformation. Pluto unearths (naturally it governs Scorpio), and will exhume what has been untouched for years, bringing it to the surface. What it brings up has a lot to do with Jupiter (your joy, abundance) in Taurus. Taurus is the astrological sign that represents our values and our resources. Taurus shows us the condition of our resources.

Celestial event: Jupiter Stations Retrograde (August 30, 2011)

Jupiter turns retrograde tomorrow in the sign of Taurus, on August 30th, 2011 until December 25, 2011.

When a planet retrogrades, it’s said that its energies are introverted, making the energies even more personal. That is, retrograde motion gives the consciousness the opportunity to reflect on itself. We will reflect on our excesses, where we “hold abundance” and those areas of life that bring us hope. This is also a time for considering where abundance is blocked in our being, our energy, and our personal vision about our life. As always, this information is shared with love and is my gift to you. Be blessed!

The Full Moon in Aquarius: Consciousness, from Individuation to Awakening

Aquarius Full Moon: Ushering in the New Era

There is a nature to the universe, an order, a unity that is divine. Early scientists had some interest in what they sensed as the divinity of order, and they sought to uncover it. At the Aquarian Full Moon, August 13th, 2011, we come clean to our awareness that there is perfect structure in creation.  We are witnessing within and without this extraordinary epoch of renewal, the unfolding of the universe before us–ever becoming, blossoming, simultaneously as our awareness blooms into space.

In this new era, we will see children differently, having allowed our own inner-children to grow up spiritually, we can allow our children to write their own stories/destinies from day-one. They will be encouraged to teach us by their individual expressions. When we are awakened, “Before God we are all equally wise – and equally foolish,” Albert Einstein. We will be like God, knowing this, but not necessarily why or how we all are actually equal in the eyes of All There Is. We will be in our heart-mind, knowing the truth by heart again, giving new life to old ways of using language such as, “memorized by heart.” We will be re-freshed about Science as a process, not just as a book of knowledge (written by those of power) to be used for or against religious beliefs. We will be released from the socialized pressure of making fringe ideas disappear, and able to embrace anomalies with curiosity, sensitivity, and compassion as the virtue of connectedness. Testing and experimentation will be done only by mutual agreement and mutual interest in the results. We will become very aware of our connectedness again.

How do we get there? In two ways that are really one: First, by the awareness that we are already there (use our individuality to express the truth of this unity in all one’s thoughts and actions; We must become self-sustaining). Two: via Uranus square Pluto transits, that is, the tests and challenges ushering the era From http://darkstarastrology.com/uranus-square-pluto-horoscopes-2011-2012-2013-2014-2015-predictions/.

There are seven exact square between Uranus and Pluto between 2012 and 2015. The last series of squares was between 1932 and 1934.

These tests are not to be feared but to be understood as taking place on the inner plane of your existence. It is always, at every moment, up to oneself to do the refining work to become better people. We must create with courage and sincerity (Leo)—the passion of love, and with humanity and fraternity—the awareness of the self in Other (Aquarius).

Aquarius Full Moon: Aspects

The Sun is in conjunction with Venus, illuminating the feminine principle—or more appropriately, the “Yin” function of receptivity in creation. Mercury is retrograde in Leo, also conjunct the Sun and Venus, setting up the mental template for Venusian influence. Our psyches are primed for sensitivity and tenderness, the receptivity of Venus. We can acknowledge mentally that love is a ‘want’ and a ‘value’ that is self-possessed.

The moon in the sign of Aquarius gives distance to the emotions, subjugates the unconscious (moon) to lend a certain cognitive distance, which can either serve the purpose of illuminating those principles that underlie creation (in Leo, its individual selves), or to dismiss and isolate self-expression as marginal and non-cohesive (say it’s against harmony).

The North Node of the moon (future) is in the sign of Sagittarius begging us to be adventurous, spirited, and optimistic in our nature. The South node of the moon (past) is in Gemini asking us to make use of our knowledge and our networks, and to release this focus on communication-for-communication’s-sake to reach into the higher realms (not just greater distances for the sake of it, but to be progressive, such as the arrow of the archer has aim), and to further develop humanity’s current philosophy and judiciousness.

In its earliest stages, individuation starts as the mirror of the world (at least how one thinks the world would like the individual to act and behave, and most of this is projected) eventually through experimentation and differentiation (Aquarius), the individual sorts out the matrix of self-material and finally anchors all self-expression in the soul—that which resonates most deeply with the incarnate being. It’s at this point that the artist (Leo) can touch the hearts of the collective. Coming full-circle, the deepest part of Self is not Self at all but  individuated, temporary expressions of the collective spark of all life, Spirit.

The Aquarius full moon is indeed the gift of Self to the collective, offered as both (small) just one of many, and (enormously powerful) a speaker of the One.

Leo New Moon August 3 2011

Leo New Moon: Self-Hood, Be your Best Self.

The self is not just ‘one thing.’ The self is composed of: the lower self, the higher Self, the personality, the ego, and the soul matrix. We have the discipline of psychology to thank for giving us other ‘terms’ such as, Id, Super-ego, and the Unconscious. Altogether, we can recognize that there are multiple forms of self that are “inside” us. Our pieces of self are our values, beliefs, our mentality, and our dreams (interpretation of reality). Now all these pieces are functional and healthy when they seem to all be “the same thing,” but it’s possible for these pieces to be in conflict.  Read about the psychologist Carl Jung and astrology, visit http://www.creative-personal-growth.com/carl-jung2.html, “His Interest in Astrology.”

Swiss psychologist (1875-1961) Carl Gustav Jung founded the discipline of Analytical Psychology, and basically awakened the collective consciousness to a cursory awareness of itself (after all, he coined the term collective unconscious). Jung is also famous for defining the term “projection.” That which is not realized or unconscious by the individual is seen as characteristic within the other to whom one is in relationship. This projection is a result of the unconsciousness or the “Shadow” aspect of self. The shadow is projected on the other because the ego cannot manage it as a self-definition. Thus the integration of the shadow is required for individuation to take place. Please see the 4th excerpt from Jung on this page. Individuation relates very well to the sign of astrological sign of Leo. For more on the Carl Jung and individuation process: http://soultherapynow.com/articles/individuation.html

In its simplest terms, the Leo archetype is all about reflection. The light that shines back on us is a reflection of the light that we ourselves are emitting. The shadow’s we cast, too, are very much our own shadows. With Leo the creator is born, the artist, the actor. One can only “act” as oneself and thereby those actions do shape and develop the character as he tries on different types of expressions. For Leo, self-development is essential. Leo will attempt to re-decorate the world to reflect itself so that it can maintain its individuality, only excepting complete adoration, seeing anything less as dissension. Until eventually Leo rests in some kind of knowing-ness that its Self-hood cannot be threatened by other special Selves, because the Self is reinforced as an illusion of the ego. The powerfully subjective experience of self, seeming to have no collective meaning, is nothing but a collective expression, and is urged out.

Have fun being yourself this new moon. Try different ways to shine! The paradigm of Leo is playful.

Capricorn Full Moon, July 15, 2011

Happy Full Moon! Possible ‘Lilith Effect’ Capricorn 22: Accepting defeat gracefully

I wish you a Happy Full Moon with a sly-ish grin and a touch of challenge because this full moon can be touchy—-Yet, it’s for the best, really; it is. The eclipse hit earlier this month and that was at 9 degrees of Cancer. This full moon is in Capricorn, no more eclipses until November. But this is Cancer’s opposite sign (see previous post). It is of no surprise that this full moon @ 22 degree Capricorn is the same degree touched by the Sun, back on January 13, 2010, as Saturn stationed retrograde in Libra, while the Sun, Venus, and the N.Node were all huddled together discussing destiny @ 22 Capricorn. Now Saturn features eminently in this full moon chart due to a T-Square formed with both Venus and Lilith. Although the full moon itself doesn’t make aspect. This could still be felt.

Transiting Venus (the faster moving planet) squares the now, forward-moving planet Saturn hosted in Libra (harmony/beauty). Saturn stationed direct last month on June 13. Sure, the square aspect aggravates stuff, true… but does it have to get sort-of, well, ugly at times?

Ugliness is something that the idealistic Libran hates even more than hate itself. Enter Lilith: fierce archetypal female badass (http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1513/whats-the-story-on-lilith-adams-first-wife.) Lilith opposes Venus (the planet of Love & beauty) in Libra, and just when you thought you were being good, patient, not-judging, unbiased and generally a good-natured person (Libran-stuff), you may have realized that something ugly’s been hanging out in the room with you. That ugly thing, however, ain’t so ugly after all—it’s just kind of, well, repressed. It’s greatest characteristic perhaps is its darkness.

The astrological Lilith “describes deep and primal issues, repressed feelings of rejection, even rage, and the refusal to give in.” Why should you notice it? It’s powerful, very, very powerful. Powerful things need to be noticed. If you chain it up in the back room of your mind or being, especially your auric field, look out! Yep, that sounds right, even though it doesn’t. Inclined Librans may deny their war-identities, but still feel their battle scars.

With some gentle demon-exorcising, I have come to see this precious and dark demon lay down and purr once it gets noticed. But I most certainly would not feed it, nor pet it! According to astrotherapy.eu/blackmoon.htm, Lilith in Aries begs for body-movement to release. Do it. Move it. This burst of powerful energy is nothing to fear, just beware, and be aware. Draw your circle, and call for protection.

Lilith in astrological chart ultimately wants you to embark on new ways of managing your anger and grief by finding your capacity to constructively release anger and resolve conflict. Face the demon of restriction and sublimated powerlessness to uncover the love. Balance (Libra) the chores and duties of Capricorn with the nurturing and unconditional love of Cancer. Use any developing friction to exercise your inner demons, but please, don’t make a martyr out of love in the process. Patience is all, add courage. One more thing, the darker the dark, the brighter the bright can be realized. Clean, clean, clean.

Not everyone will experience this “Lilith effect”—depends on your natal chart. Technically this pattern doesn’t involve the full moon at all since the full moon makes too wide of an orb of aspect to other major planets. Nevertheless, there is something to be said about tracing back the movements of Saturn as they correlate to former Solar passages, specifically at the 22 degree of Capricorn, the same exact degree of our current full moon. Never hurts to reflect. Think back to January 13, 2010 and what you may have experienced at that time for clues about what was repressed, rejected, and sublimated–Lilith Style.

Cancer New Moon, July 1 2011, Partial Solar Eclipse

July 1, 2011 Partial Solar Eclipse in Cancer/ New Moon

The astrological sign of Cancer is given the element of water, describing what type energy it is, and the cardinal modality, describing how it operates. Cancer, like water, flows into any shape of container. It surrounds and absorbs. It is inherently adaptive. Water energy is sensitive to all energy. Cancer acts like a sponge and soaks up its environment, but also surrounds and saturates. It can be protective and shielding, or weak and yielding. Cancer  traditionally represents the Mother Archetype and rules the private life of house and home.

Now, I’d like to talk about the Cancer/Capricorn polarity. The signs oppose one another on the zodiacal wheel, but the energy really represents to two-sides of same coin and are thus complementary. Cancer is Elemental: that which is raw, unformed, flowing. Cancer is Archetypal: the sign of the mother, the instinctive, the nurturer. Capricorn is elemental: physical and material; it represents body, thought-form (principle), think of the way lava cools and hardens after it freely releases–that is the way of nature. Capricorn is traditionally Archetypal: the sign of the father, authoritarian, disciplinarian, rule-enforcer.

Making our way (the moon’s nodes) from shallow footsteps, to deep grooves, to ruts… habit builds structure, some call it karma.

We can look to psychological astrology and see our childhood experiences, how we relate to them, the deep impressions that imprinted into memories during our childhoods, and our personal past usually has a story, how it was perceived by us at that time. Cancer, in the astrological chart, points to the subconscious, the underground of the mind. It is where our stories flow like a river, without our awareness. When our subconscious emerges because of the build-up of inner pressures, (for various reasons, sometimes never known); and, we get the signal of emotion, we can look for a story.  Get to know it first. Then, decide to drop the old story. This takes practice. Over time our tendencies, habits, stories form into beliefs, and that feeds back into a loop, shaping how we see today’s reality, and ultimately our future.

So, the ‘shaping’ process of life—the way experiences mold us into our character is through the Cancer to Capricorn polarity. Capricorn, the crystallization of the trodden path into an absolute paved road has been laid via repeated actions into habits. Often astrologers talk about the planet Saturn (Capricorn’s ruler) as being the karmic planet. We can see why, its placement is a description of our own personal rulebook, or that which we project outward into the world as our authority. Nevertheless, what was once a rough sketch of possibility before we repeated it over and over again, became “written in stone” and therefore a fact about ourselves. When all along, it was really just our belief forming into reality, caught up in a feedback loop. We all have beliefs, even those to don’t feel comfortable with things like “belief,” who prefer what they call facts. If we operate in that way (we really have no choice about that part) we get back exactly what we put in, and face limitation during difficult Saturn transits. Here rather than be rewarded for our past efforts (whatever past it may be, this life or another).

I know that the whole concept of past and future lives is a bit to stomach all at once but take a small bite and consider how BIG and LONG these cycles really are in the universe. We are the universe, we are nature. That’s a belief to work with!

Karmic Rut

Fresh footprints in the sand (as light markings of a once-over walk) can be blown away by the wind, but after several passes over the same spot, our way can become so deepened and hardened that these walkways become absolute ruts (albeit much easier to stay in) with high walls that we cannot even see over–so deep that it’s starting to look like a maze, and you wish you had a map because you are so stuck in the narrowness of where you were (the past) going over and over it again, that you can’t see anything beyond the wall of that vision. We sometimes like to call these karmic moments, when we simply realize that it’s time to work a little less on the old path, and consider starting a new path where we have more vision.

I think you get my point. If you don’t that’s okay, let these pictures and thoughts sit with you for a little while and let them sink in.

Eclipse aspect pattern

I’m going to pause on archetypal expressions of the signs for this post, and begin to shift to the aspect pattern of this particular eclipse, which incidentally starts a whole new family of eclipses, so it’s new-new. Each series typically lasts 12 to 15 centuries and contains 70 or more lunar eclipses. Also, this eclipse will affect you from 2 weeks prior to July 1, to 2 weeks after with the greatest intensity. Those most affected have personal planets in the Cardinal signs of (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn). What you learn from the astronomical event/astrological energies is your gift, if you so choose to see it that way, providing you with skills to work with the ricochet of lessons that pulsate out into the future, consisting of similar themes.

Aspects

Sun conjunct Moon in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn, Retrograde

Major transformation of consciousness and largely due to the emerging awareness of the shadow-side (Pluto). Sometimes indicates endings, but since it’s a New Moon, Solar Eclipse, it’s kind of more like

A fixed star, Gienah, is conjunct Saturn, and it’s kinda a dark star, described by some as used in the past for anti-nice magikal purposes.

Saturn is squaring the eclipse, meaning both North and South nodes of the moon-

If you feel like there is rain coming down on your parade, this is the saturnine quality of Saturn, sobering you up and sometimes making reality feel pesky and heavy.  (Neptune the planet of dreams is retrograding back into Aquarius and then will come back into Pisces in February for perma-stay till 2025, so you get can back into generating your dream life (that is, transcending ordinary reality), don’t let the pesky Saturn get you down, just listen to the planetary message of Saturn and work with its energies like a good student of life, you will be rewarded by what you learn.) See if some new technologies pop up from August to February… your likely to see tons regardless since it’s the way of things, but keep your eye out for a Neptunian Goodbye to the sign of Aquarius before going back to the sign it rules, Pisces, for more alter-reality, fantasy creations, and further reduction on the line separating reality from fantasy.

Keys to this Eclipse

Patience: the bridge between old and new is built without you. (with Pluto in opposition, it’s powers beyond your control). Release as much of the past as you can, by acknowledging what principles are out-dated and not as useful in your present-life context. Decide which principles (Capricorn) serve your future direction, and after you listen to your emotions, by fully allowing the flow (Cancer) of their expression, let go of that story that informs them, and start anew. Emotions are just emotions, neither good nor bad. It’s the interpretation, actions, and behaviors that make emotions deemed appropriate or inappropriate in terms of their expression. That’s why we have the tendency to repress, stifle, or limit them (Capricorn) before we discover them through the sign of Cancer.

General comments about this summer’s eclipses

This is the last eclipse in the 3-Eclipse series of June 1 (Solar), June 15 (Lunar), and July 1 (Solar). Thus lays the foundation for summer and the 6 months till November with the next series of eclipses. Each eclipse also has its own eclipse family called a Saros Series, where an eclipse is given a number for how it appears in the Saros Cycle, spanning approximately 18 years. Overall, this family of eclipses or Saros Cycle will last 12-15 centuries. In astrology the nodes project the qualities of the past and future based on their natal sign and house placement in the birth chart as well as other aspecting bodies (planets, asteroids, fixed stars) and other mathematical points given interpretive value such as Arabic parts.

I hope you enjoyed what is still just a brief write-up of everything astrological + more!

Oh yes, if you do look at it and notice that it says the eclipse is in Gemini, that’s true!  However, there’s so much more to discuss such as Vedic astrology and the Sidereal zodiac,  it’s far too much subject matter for one blog that’s supposed to help you keep your head on *and* connected to the cosmos. Revealing at the Full Moon

Full Moon, Total Lunar Eclipse, Sagittarius

This is a stellar event to just feel with your whole being, no matter if it brings you pain or pleasure–likely it’s a mixture of both. How you experience this eclipse is up to you.

Aspects at Work

Saturn trine Venus in Gemini
Venus sextile Uranus
Saturn opposite Uranus, Squaring Pluto Retrograde-> Capricorn rules structures, establishments
Moon conjunct N. Node in Sagittarius
Sun and Mercury conjunct S. Node in Gemini

The responsibility of relationship (Saturn in Libra) opposes (Uranus in Aries) the desire and freedom “to be myself.” Oppositions represent awareness. What is being transformed is the structure of relationship—how we view it, and what we think defines it (Sun conjunct Mercury aspect makes it cerebral). What can we live with, and what can we live without? Additionally, our relationship to the world of material (Venus aspects and Jupiter in Taurus) is highlighted. We want the stability (Venus trine Saturn) and we want to be give love freely (Venus sextile Uranus).  These are the questions that help keep you flowing.

Otherwise, you’re pitting yourself up against a T-square with Pluto at the fulcrum, enforcing change and adjustment, bringing you the experience of irritation and pressure. It’s best if you take this on consciously, and address the questions above. Get deep into them so that you don’t burst out and cause/experience injury.

I’m going to have to tell you, pay attention to your feelings. What you FEEL you need, if you can untangle that from your unconsciousness and allow it to live and breathe, will best supply you with your answers at this critical juncture. Eclipses are huge turning points. With the moon conjunct the North Node, expressing your emotions first to yourself is paramount, make sure you know how you feel and are in touch with that, you have to FEEL it fully to know it. Take the time! It’s hard to do, especially during an upheaval, but that’s when it’s all the more necessary. It is the only way to bring about healing instead of building atop longer-term problems.

With Pluto trine to Jupiter in Taurus, what you release from your life, and what you confess to yourself about your needs/feelings will educate you best. Opening up to your emotions now will help you bring vision and happiness into your relationships. If you’re relationships fail when you express your deepest, most honest self, then they are not good relationships for you. Let them fall away so that your true needs are met with love. Find your emotional groupies, and accept the differing needs of others. Let people be who they are, let yourself be who you are, regardless of how uncomfortable that may make others.
