Summer Solstice 2014

Image

Summertime kicks off in San Diego at 3:51am, PDT, on June 21, 2014. I’ve always enjoyed summer as my favorite time of the year. Summer is always filled with so much hope and potential. As a child, I would just relish in the entire season of it and into the autumn, my second-favorite time of the year!

Looking at the chart that celebrates the beginning of the season:

I still see a weakening grand cross (looks like a square); it has lessened quite a bit.  So… yes, there’s still some *creative* tension there. I will review it here. Following that, you will see an opposition (slicing through the center of the square) which is within interpretable orb, particularly Mars Opposite Uranus. Here’s a great blog post regarding Mar/Uranus OppositionA quick note about orb – the tighter the aspect, the stronger the astrological accuracy. However, with all this Neptune energy (and my own transits), I’m not being very rigid with my orbs delineations. Also, this post is about making generalizations, so that’s what I am doing. I’m still talking about the leftover grand cross because we’re still not done with Uranus square Pluto‘s exact aspects (tightest orb), coming around for its second last *exact* aspect on December 15, 2014 (I haven’t checked for the specific date/time for San Diego yet). I wrote about it here, last year – it’s potentially what set me free from my astrology-writing hiatus for the whole year of 2012.

Corners of the Grand Cross –

Corner A:

Uranus conjunct Moon in Aries

(unexpected emotion, fiery passion, drive for genius, inspired inventions, objectivity over mind/body, anger, spontaneity, energy, excitability)

Corner B:

Retrograde Pluto in Capricorn

(transforming business-matters, opening up unexplored areas in the psyche surrounding public life)

Corner C:

Mars, with nearby transiting N.Node – orb is too wide to call it a conjunction – in Libra

(WE – balancing – scales – weighing the truth, merit of agreement – and the drive for relationship, negotiation, agreement)

Corner D:

Jupiter in Cancer

(family, abundance, world-view/philosophy, explorer, wandering heart)

Mental factors:

Mercury is retrograde and the strong Mercury/Sun conjunction trine Neptune give us more discussion around dreams and other reality-transcending topics – fuzzy thinking, idealistic or illusionary thinking, communication with angels or beings beyond the realm of the ordinary senses. For more on Neptune, click the link.

Oppositions:

Mars/Uranus (see link above)

The chart I created using astrodienst

June 12th Full Moon in Sagittarius, 2:11PM, PDT

Image

This full moon will be conjunct my natal Neptune, within a 2 degree orb, so there’s a good possibility that Neptune will influence how I read this full moon’s chart.  Neptune will be making some ‘friendly’ aspects to Pluto (sextile, 60 degrees) and the retrograde planet Mercury (trine, 120 degrees).  So, I anticipate that what I have to write will be relevant to at least some of you.

The Sun part of the (Sun opposite Moon = Full Moon) equation will be occurring right on the cusp of my natal 11th house. This is the 5/11 house axis that relates to the individual’s creative output (5th) and the groups, friendships and associations (11th), with whom the individual is participating. With the full moon on my 11th house, it’s about these groups and friendships, community hopes and ideals, coming to fruition in some way. Sure. I can see that. Also, Gemini and Sagittarius are natural rulers of the 3rd/9th houses of the mentality, neighbors, local networks (3rd) and higher learning, educational institution, and publication (9th).

With Full Moon square Chiron, it’s also about healing wounds that arose from previous attempts with groups, friendships, and associations, and thus culminating into new fields of learning and associations. I AM really experiencing a lot of new growth showing up in that area of my life, as the moon deals with the public and Chiron with healing.

A full moon will bring something visible to your awareness in the area/house placement in your natal chart where it occurs. If you are looking at your own chart, see where 22 degrees of Gemini/Sagittarius are housed. See what planets are aspecting the full moon in your nativity; and then, look at those aspects by transit and progression.

General themes

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is squaring Chiron in Pisces.  Sagittarius is about seeing the “bigger picture,” it relates to optimism and faith. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter (ancient ruler of the sign Pisces) and represents grand portions and big plans. Sagittarius is also the natural ruler of the 9th house, in any nativity. Pisces is about spirituality and psychic experiences (Jupiter is the ancient ruler of Pisces). All in all, there’s a call to faith here that will take some effort for going the long distance (square aspect 90 degrees).

Gemini/Sagittarius: Anatomy & Function

According to Max Heindel in his book called, The Message of the Stars, “Sagittarius rules the hips and thighs, the femur, ilium, the coccygeal and sacral regions of the spine, the iliac arteries and veins, [and] sciatic nerves.” (p.543) According to Robert Carl Jansky in his book, Astrology, Nutrition, and Health, “the physiological functions of this [Gemini/Sagittarius] sign pair are distributive and locomotive.” (p.24). Gemini rules the lungs and trachea, and commonly known to astrologers is that Gemini is the ruler of the 3rd house of communication and short distance travel.

Pisces Correlations: Host of transiting Chiron (Wounded-healer)

In Jeffrey Wolf Green’s Evolutionary Astrology book called, Medical Astrology: Astrological correlations to anatomy, physiology, and the chakra system, he makes the following associations for Pisces with regard to the Chakra system as well as other processes. Neptune/Pisces/12th house: crown chakra, sacral chakra with co-ruler Jupiter, and the astral body. “Neptune also correlates with the phenomena of consciousness, the consciousness of the Soul. It correlates with sleep/being awake, dreams, visions, and hallucinations that occur within consciousness.” (p.23)

Finally, this Sagittarius Full Moon forms a trine (120 degree) aspect with Uranus in Aries. This is more fuel for fire in the ‘change and inspiration’ aka “newness” department of our lives. Aries rules the 1st house in the natural astrological chart. It deals with beginnings. The awakening involved with Uranus in Aries really is bringing in the ‘Age of Aquarius.’ It is fitting for Uranus to be cast in this role, as Uranus is the archetypal ruler of Aquarius in the form of Prometheus – one who stole fire from the gods and gave it to man!

Solar Eclipse in Scorpio, November 3, 2013: Aglow in the Dark

camel eclipse boston globe photography

In astrology a solar eclipse is considered stronger than a new moon. It is still a new moon though, and has similar astrological meaning in the sense that it is about planting a seed for something new, for something yet to come. Historically, a solar eclipse brought fear, especially in areas where it is can be seen, for temporarily there is an obscuring of one body of light in the presence of another. Not just any light, but that of the sun: the most necessary and important light of all. Eclipses generally corresponded to big events and turning points in people’s lives – not unlike a rite of passage. Also, astrologically speaking, eclipses have a wider range of impact than a new or full moon, and can be felt up to a week or more before and after the eclipse date. I’ve heard astrologers quote longer time periods as well.

This solar eclipse is taking place in the sign of Scorpio. The sign that has everything to do with espionage and subterfuge, maybe this is why we have a lot of news right now internationally regarding the spying that the U.S. has been doing.

The Sabian Symbol for Scorpio 12 is, “an official embassy ball.” According to Nicholas Devore’s, Encyclopedia of Astrology this is a degree of business. Well, perhaps this is a ball by sheer number, not so much celebratory. It definitely points to a lot of movement among international dignitaries, not too cheery.

What strikes me about this solar eclipse chart is the series of trines (120 degrees) which show a lot of zippy energy into the Scorpio Eclipse (Sun/Moon). This sort of aggrandizes, or jacks up what’s happening here in the sign of the scorpion. Also, Jupiter, the planet of abundance is also a symbol for pomp and regalia –he will be retrograding on November 7th, introverting any assumed air of entitlement.

The Neptune-involved T-square aspect at the full moon in Taurus on November 17, communicates back to this Solar eclipse that there’s something removed from reality about the Neptune in Pisces trine sun/moon conjunction in Scorpio. There’s a bit of shock about it all, or confusion about “why’s this happening?” Some ideal is being unmet, or unseen. There’s some muddy water surrounding it, illusions (Neptune). More will be revealed at the Full Moon, or at least, what’s going on will become clearer then. Neptune undraws lines. But, lines will still be drawn.

Saturn is conjunct the Sun during this solar eclipse on the 3rd. Themes of father, fatherhood, authority, the establishment, and constraints on time come up. There is also awareness of discipline needed to reach goals and navigate intensity surrounding the eclipse. This is Saturn speaking to those well-trained. Otherwise, it’s like black paint’s been smeared all over your new blueprints – push-back onto old habits and structures. Perhaps the new blueprints aren’t ready until they are fully tested. Like, how well did you have them memorized? Can you redo them?

Yod

Another notable aspect of the solar eclipse chart is Uranus’s yod Aspect. A yod is also referred to as the “finger of god,” and it sometimes gets distinction with astrologers as an “aspect of fate.” Essentially what it is is an arrow pointing to one planet that marks it as the point of adjustment between two other planets, which form quincunxes (150 degrees) to it. The two planets are sextile (60 degrees) to each other. So, taking all 3 points together, it looks like a long, skinny piece of pie. The tip of the pie, the part that would touch the pie’s center, that’s where the yod points to –the adjustment point.

In this case, in the solar eclipse chart, you have Uranus in Aries at the adjustment point. Mars in Virgo (point 1) and the Sun/Moon eclipse (point 2) both quincunx Uranus in Aries (point 3). Generally speaking, let’s look at the U.S. healthcare plan. The website for the healthcare program (Mars in Virgo) needs a lot of work if it’s going to revolutionize (Uranus) how individuals get insurance coverage (Scorpio deals with the insurance stuff, and loans, and taxes). In fact, the key to making this whole new healthcare system work is the internet/technology (Uranus) facilitating its start (Aries). The yod (the finger of god) points to Uranus.

The “Finger of God” aspect sounds pretty dramatic when taken by itself, but there are bigger or longer patterns in effect. Uranus is involved in the ‘Uranus square Pluto’ transit lasting until 2015, which is part of the larger Uranus/Pluto cycle which started with the conjunction back in 1966.

Uranus/Pluto

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto. Pluto continues to be in and out of exact square aspect with Uranus up until 2015, with another exact square on November 1, 2013, 3:30 PDT (Rx Uranus in Aries @ 9’26’’ and Pluto Direct at 9’26’’ Capricorn). The history of this Uranus/Pluto cycle began with the conjunction of the planets on January 7, 1966. That’s when Uranus and Pluto were side by side, in the sign of Virgo. We are talking about a 138 year Uranus/Pluto cycle here, ending at the beginning of the next one, in 2104 in the sign of Taurus. What we are currently experiencing is a square. A square is a tough aspect, it creates friction, hardship, and requires some creativity, some testing. We’re dealing with the square part of the cycle for about 4 years, from 2012-2015. Personally, I prefer a square to the quincunx. The quincunx looks like nothing is happening but the energy is all frustrated (which can run amok). With the square, at least something is happening, there are sparks, and it’s creative.

A solar eclipse in the sign that is ruled by Pluto is gonna bring on this pattern with greater potency, especially since an exact square of Uranus/Pluto is within 2 days of the Scorpio Eclipse. This should make for a very interesting and particularly ghoulish Halloween. Have some fun with it. Dress up like your alter ego or something, bring some levity and some treats, everyone will appreciate that. Be careful with the caramel in the candied apple – that could ruin some teeth!

Breakthrough

Scorpio is all about the urge to merge. But it’s also the kind of energy that wants to destroy itself, to get so entirely consumed with the intensity of the object of desire that it transforms its own very essence. This is Scorpio’s gift: transformation. This is really about the phoenix rising from the ashes, something so innate, where purging is the process that brings growth; it’s the dark and sometimes ugly stuff that really, really creates the fuel for the happy, pretty things in life.

I see a lot of breakthroughs in this solar eclipse not the kind of outward progress than can be seen in the news, but the kind of under-the-layers (Scorpio) unseen breakthroughs.
There’s a small theme that starts now with Mars in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces, looking ahead at the full moon in Taurus on November 17, I see that Mars in Virgo will get some kind of props for a job well done. For those who assert (Mars) themselves in assisting others (Virgo) to help get things in order, to develop practical methods for actualizing Neptune (ideals, utopia). In Virgo, being “right” is relinquished for being truly helpful. Utilize reasoning rightfully now.

I said this before with Saturn’s presence and since the planet is such a major player (the ruler of Pluto occupied Capricorn right now, and conjunct solar eclipse), it’s still very valid. Maintain the focus, keep the discipline, and use the quickly flowing, uninterrupted trine energy to release some pressure valves in your life. Find protected areas to blow off some steam, and channel any mobilized energy into financial and joint pursuits. Consider your insurance policies carefully, and order your affairs. Basically, Scorpio helps us look deeply –I mean to look really deeply into just about, well, Anything…even into things apparently ‘not there.’

Venus conjunct Neptune: Things have been dreamy lately

Hello Folks!

I wanted to re-blog my older post in honor of the 29th degree of Aquarius, during our upcoming New Moon on February 18. It “took place” at the same degree as Venus Conjunct Neptune (@ Aquarius 29) in 2011 (03-25-11, date of my orig. post). I am wrapping up some themes here in my life as we embrace this “Nth” degrees of these signs (Next month Pisces 29). I’m happy to say that this is the second post I’ve written here at Fiesta Estrella, and I really wouldn’t change too much. I’d also like to dedicate this post to your celebrations of Valentine’s Day &/or MahaShivaratri (in our case) The marriage of Shiva & Shakti, with my sweetheart. We’ve had a wonderful journey, and I’m happy to see how far this blog has come, as have I. [I took 2012 off completely as part of my own transformation.] I am so grateful for my readers and commenters who have just shown how AWESOME they are on their own blogs – and who have taken the time to comment, engage, celebrate, and just Be with me here. I Love you All. ~Ka Malana
Wishing for you all kinds of Lovin’ this New Moon in Aquarius! LOVE-EQUALITY

From personal to impersonal, we make the leap to transpersonal

When are Ideas about Love Ideals and not entirely realistic?

I was discussing with a friend the ideals we have about love and relationships and how, over time, our ideals have both informed and misinformed us about true relating in our relationships.  It’s occurred to me a good reason that he and I are having this conversation is because of this transit. I’d like to examine this aspect here in my blog today:  Neptune conjunct Venus

A conjunction is an astrological aspect described as two planets or cosmic bodies co-existing side-by-side in an astrological chart.  The planetary energies fuse together, combining archetypes. Two archetypes are at play in the sign of Aquarius (detachment, and humanistic /impersonal love). The archetypes are Neptune: the submerged, sea-god Poseidon, who represents sacrifice and transcendence; and, Venus: representing Eros, personal love, and relationships.

Being a lover of love, it’s easy for me to allow myself to be very conscious of this topic. I have no problem addressing where my expectations in my intimate and love relationships have developed and where they play out.  But this was not always the case.

Step #1 is the realization of the dream-idea, taking a step back from my deepest yearnings and realizing what is factual, and what is actual. The “taking-a-step-back” has been wholly a result of experience. At this point, I have more notches on my lipstick case than I’d like to make record. Everyone has a different approach to this, and for me, abundance in love was not a quest—it’s been more like the result of processing through a strong ideal, and then living out the reality. Thereby, I’ve only had to give up what was necessary, as a part of my experience. That which was unreal, truly just fell away.

The planet Neptune will always bring up the question of what is possible.  It’s the spiritual aspect of love. Neptune is a higher octave of Venus. I recommend you take a step back from your current dream and just take a look at your historical relationship record: (Venus conjunct Neptune in trine aspect to South Node). The South Node indicates our past, sometimes this life, sometimes beyond.  I recommend you do this because of what is to come.

Love that is to come: April 4 and beyond

The reason why Neptune’s movement into Pisces is so spectacular is because its theme will last until 2025. Get used to the fogginess.  There is an obvious “foggy” affect that is making you feel like you are swimming through some unified field of a greater matrix that your brain cannot comprehend—in fact, you are not exactly “seeing” but experiencing this unity-consciousness on a bodily level. Venus is the ruler of the sign Taurus: all things that are sensory, tangible, and experiential. Take this BIG LOVE LOOK because Neptune is switching out of Aquarius (impersonal, human, individual love) and moving into Pisces which is the sign that it rules: imagination, spirituality, transcendence, confusion, and possibly deception.  Don’t worry, deception is always a result of misinforming the self. Get honest with yourself and you have less outside of you that can strike you with deception. Neptune was in Aquarius since 1998. This brings up a lot of questions for people about the Age of Aquarius, but I’m sorry that is too complicated to get into in this blog on Neptune and Venus, and Neptune in Pisces. I’ll say this, we didn’t start doubting science on a collective level as “all there is” until this transit. Also, we who love science very passionately, were secretively exploring other “less science-y” things—in the closet.

April 4: A dip into Pisces, and then swimming back to Aquarius

On April 4th, Neptune will hang out in Pisces, starting here, and then will exit back into Aquarius in August 2011, as a part of its retrograde cycle, only to return to Pisces on February 2012, and stay until 2025. Yes, this is a long time.  Neptune is giving us a clue about this transformation because it is conjunct-ing Venus at the last degree of Aquarius. I always pay special attention to “goodbyes” and “hellos;” what surrounds these transitional moments are hints. I know this because in 2012 Saturn is going to be in Scorpio, the opposite sign of Taurus.  Our relationships and how we share (our money and energy) is up for review.  You thought already that it was being reviewed because of our crashing world economy, but that’s the macro speaking to the micro. Get ready to look more closely at how the details play out on a personal level.

Transpersonal Questions

Last time Neptune was in Pisces was in the 1840s: consider the California gold rush and Spiritualism. Do you think these things could re-emerge? Is there a dream land where there’s metaphorical gold, and if so, is it in this world? If there are other dimensions, can we communicate and traverse these dimensions, by communicating with beings on another plane of existence? Do we even care what reality is… if we find a way to make use of the unclear messages and obscure wisdom emerging from “nowhere”?  More people will be intrigued with these questions, and the progressive, high-science-minded may even follow suit. Notions of Past/Present/Future may seem more like arbitrary descriptions of time rather than clear, concise representations of time.  Of course, we will always conduct our experiments and seek proof (thankfully)—but I have a feeling that our experiments will start looking wackier.

In Summary:

‘Reality’ is something that is becoming more and more spiritualized, as we personally re-emerge with the source of our individual lives, and shape our reality consciously. We will use our new sense of reality to evaluate our relationships, and many of us will set forth on the journey to making those dreams reality, as we believe we can truly cultivate this dream in relationship to one another. As long as we are clear with ourselves about what we deem to be real and not-so-real, we are good to go anywhere. Be aware of the danger of dishonesty and you are golden. The “new” golden age may look like a dark age, but it depends on your internal GPS. Have fun with this plot as it unfolds (Neptune was in Sagittarius at my birth) so I’ll also recommend having fun when things get weird and unexplainable. Maybe that’s just my generational coping-mechanism, but it is meant to help you swim through your life with joy—as I, without a doubt, intend to trust my life without the expectation that it unfold in a certain and particular way.

This should have been posted earlier today but it was more important to me to support my friend while she played piano, and be graced by her beauty in all her ways.

Love is always~
