The Sound of Crickets, Hafiz, and the Moon

Lately, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting a most lovely cricket. For me, the presence of a cricket (inside my house) and right next to me on the couch, is usually a sign. Yes, this has happened to me before, but not exactly in the same way. I have no idea how he got inside, but I did coax him out. I want him to live!

The night he was singing the loudest, I was writing, and I needed the support. I was reaching within myself for my inner voice, feeling for it, digging deep, and really just trying to use words evenly. Crickets are special. This cricket may even be my ancestor.

In China, people have been known to keep crickets as pets.

This morning I awoke at 4:30am.  My body/mind/spirit wants to move deeper into my spiritual practice. I received the message that this is what I am going to be doing now. I’ve been nudged. Now it’s up to me to “go with it.” By 5:00am, I decided to go for a walk, and it was a little bit on the chilly side. Yes, I live in sunny California, so when it’s dark – I get sensitive to the cold.

I turned to head back home, and there it was: the brilliant, large, glowing moon. I felt like I could walk to it… and maybe even hug it.

Also, this morning, I opened a box of special books that were in storage (I was looking for the Secret of the Golden Flower), and I found this poem by Hafiz, that I’d like to share with you:

I Took It as a Sign

Someone sent a band to my house,

And it started playing

At five in the morning.

I took this as a sign

God wanted me to sing!

Then the moon joined in

And a few of the tenor-voiced stars,

And the earth offered its lovely belly

As a drum.

Before I knew it,

I realized

All human beings could be happy

If they just had a few music lessons

From a Sweet Old Maestro

  1. Hey Ka,

A wonderful anecdote and a choice selection from Hafiz…the perfect way to close a Sunday evening at the start of another new week.

I am in admiration of anyone who gets up at 5am, but I can sincerely appreciate why you do. There is a stillness that permeates the air when one joins nature on her 5am stage, and a sense of peace so without compromise one can almost hear the earth pause to draw her first breath of the day.

It seems as though you are rewarded for listening to that intuitive inner voice; the moon image is very appealing and must have helped spawn a thousand words.

Thanks for posting a little song with such big cheer.

    Namaste

    1. Hi Sue!
Thank you!! I awoke because I was ready to start my day at 4:30am. I went through a period of waking around that time and meditating. I love Crickets! Thanks for reading and enjoying ❤ Ka

  4. I love this reblog Ka. The full moon mimics the blood moon on tap for tonight. I am also a big Hafiz fan so this was also a treat. Learning more about your awakening made me feel closer to you. Also we started getting into astrology as children, so it is in our bones, lol! Crickets are very cool and I sometimes hear them in the morning but but do not think I ever saw one. You put a lot of yourself in this reblogathon and it inspires me.

    love ya, Linda ❤

    1. This comment really touched my heart. I was unable to respond at the time for many reasons. Sometimes I just need to ‘receive.’ Also, yes, Hafiz is beyond words: excellent! I’m glad that you felt closer to me. That’s a great feeling–because I am here. I am. Yes, astrology IS in our bones. I’m looking forward to reconnect with astrology again in another (deeper?) way in the future (are you surprised though?! lol I say this about everything but you understand the layering and the spiraling and all that jazz, including jazz. lol)

The part about your comment that most pulled at my heartstrings is this, “You put a lot of yourself in this reblogathon and it inspires me.

      love ya, Linda ❤”

Thank you for recognizing me–thank you for seeing my efforts and feeling my presence. I still hope to find a way to get you that 5 min meditation in a format that works for you. I will not forget! I hope not. There will be plenty of reminders in the future, if i do! Love ya, too, Linda! xo
